Just curious how many others like myself, play the Show year round.

Baseball is by far my favorite sport and its the only sports video game that I play on current gen consoles. I'm not a big NBA, NHL, or soccer fan. If I want to play football I play the older versions when I actually liked them, but its rare these days that I have the urge to play any other sports game but baseball.

So are there others like me? Do you play The Show year round?

I absolutely love this game, however, at the end of my year I have to shelve it for awhile (staleness). This is the first year I didn't finish my franchise and I think I stopped playing in late August. Just seemed like a grind (been there done that sort of thing). However, I picked it up again a few weeks ago and enjoyed all it's goodness all over again.

Worked on a new roster for the new year, simmed a season, did the off season and now sitting here waiting for the new game to drop. I'll tinker with the rosters still

The game really is a gift with everything they allow us to do, just want to see a jump in presentation (not even sure what I want to see...just something, lol).

Normally I shelf it after baseball season ends and don’t play again until the next years version comes in march. I absolutely love the show too.

This year however is the first year I’ve been playing almost all off-season.

All i play is sports game and I’m a purist when it comes to realism. The show to me is by the far the purist representation of its sport.

As I’m getting older, whether it’s in season or not doesn’t matter to me as much, if the title is good, I’m finding myself wanting to play it.

I usually stop playing from October to now (late December, early Jan). I get caught up in following the real MLB offseason so I just recently started a new franchise and simmed the 19 season and offseason with everything on auto, then I take over my Cubs at the beginning of spring training. This way I start my season in January and get a head start towards actually finishing a season and continuing a franchise.

I did this last year and Harper signed with the Pirates while Machado went to the Rays. This year Cole went to the Dodgers and Rendon to the Braves.

I actually prefer to play most sports games in the off season using the final rosters as my starting point. As far as The Show, since I've started playing Pro Yakyuu Spirits I find it difficult to return to it, game seems slower almost plodding. I think I stick to this until 20 is released.

Normally I play until September then switch to the other sports games. Then come February will pick it up again in anticipation of the next game, usually starting a new rebuild dynasty.

This year though, I stopped playing in August then starting going through my back log of non sports games and I am really enjoying it.

In MLB, my goal is to finish my 2026 Indians franchise and an NL rebuild franchise again playing a season in the future.

I am still deciding on MLB 20. It has to blow me away to get it new and I may end up wait to see if it goes on free for ps plus come next fall.

for me, its easier to play year round because of no games IRL MLB November-February. I dont really know if I'd play less if there were MLB games in the winter, but I definitely need to play the Show more in the off-season if I'm going to retain my sanity. I've been following MLB heavily since 1982, except for '95-'96. ''we were on a break!'' so Brett Favre, John Elway the Packers and Broncos were a nice distraction, but I dont ever wanna go that route again.

I play Madden when it comes out and NBA2k, then after a month or two after release of them, I go back to the show. This year, I stopped playing 19 and went back to 18. I prefer 18 gameplay and presentation elements. Was my favorite show ever. Still going through an all time classic team roster replay season and once I'm done with that, I'll carry it over to 19 and then over to 20. I have a feeling though that I may keep going back to 18 when ps5 comes out if rumors are true of backwards compatibility
