Remember the Titans
Remember the Titans A Tennessee Titans Franchise
I've been sitting back through the 2019 NFL Playoffs patiently waiting for a narrative to present itself. At first I thought about taking on New England after they lost in the Wild Card, but honestly, I don't want to play the guess-when-Brady-retires game. Next up was Houston after their nasty loss to Kansas City. Man did I want to retry that game and take down the Chiefs, but I ultimately decided to not pull the trigger there because the Tennessee narrative keeps getting better.
The Tennessee Titans have done everything right since switching to Tannehill, beat New England, and then demolished Baltimore. Now stands arguably their toughest test yet against Mahomes and the Fastest Show on Turf...
First off, why the Titans?
Simple answer? Old School. The NFL doesn't want to see teams like Tennessee succeed with a bell cow back and average QB, it's just not highlight worthy. It wants cannon armed guys like Patrick Mahomes who bomb it 50 yards downfield to a guy running 20+ mph in Tyreek Hill for the SportsCenter Top 10 Play.
The Titans have a pretty historic group of running backs (Eddie George, Earl Campbell, Chris Johnson) and Derrick Henry has had more than a season to remember. I want to keep this style of play going and make sure the running back position doesn't die into some hybrid backfield version of a slot wide receiver...looking at you McCaffrey and Kamara.
Another big reason I like the Titans is because of where they stand in their division. The AFC South has been Houston's for the last two years and I'd like to take that back, not to mention fending off a well run organization in Indianapolis and a couple of talented pieces in Jacksonville. I don't have to deal with some juggernaut franchise owning the division, nor am I said juggernaut.
What's my starting point?
AFC Championship. That's right, throwing myself right into the lion's den. If we manage to beat Kansas City and move on to the Super Bowl, terrific. If things don't follow suit in real life, or vice versa, it'll create an interesting narrative I can forever compare to real life. That's easily one of the best things about sports gaming...it's my world.
House Rules/Sliders/Settings
Raider_Ren has a really good All-Madden set I've used for 3-4 games now and really like it. I'm using his settings, 11 minute quarters with no runoff, and the "Sister Team Injury Approach". Simply put, I bump the injury slider to 51 or 52 when I advance a week and mimic the injuries of the same NFL franchise every week.
