With the 2020 DLC dropped for NH4, and NH5 being moved in house for 704, I have a feeling this will just be a reskin of NH4 with very little additions. Hopefully it will be a good step like 4 was, but seems like too many changes happening in the development period to hope for that.

That’s exactly what I expect.

I mentioned in the NH4 review thread this and a few other impressions I get after seeing the AMA. In brief, I like their long-term, grand vision for the franchise but they really seem in over their heads.

With the next one coming out basically all answers said - we plan that in future but not now.

They ditched dlc for four.... they seemingly aren’t adding anything new to this next one and as usual plan to do everything people want “later in the series”

I’ll stick with 4 and the new Tony Stewart game.

Ridiculous Q&A - they’ve not answered a single question at all. They’ve given responses but not one is a clear answer expect all the ones saying no.

We get it - yall be lucky to get the next one even running let alone add any features...

They should skip the next release - update 4 with dlc and come back with a proper sequel- instead they’ll sell us a new game which is basically 4 with new season dlc anyway.

The game still is being developed on the Unity engine, a FREAKING PLATFORM RELEASED FOR MOBILE GAMES IN 2005.

Agree with everyone else: NH5 appears to be just a reskin with a few new tweaks. No way will I pay full price for that game. Not a chance.

I've never understood why the new game doesn't come out Daytona week.

It's like having the new Madden or MLB the show coming out 3/4 through the season.

In all honesty here, NH4 wasn't special. I know alot of you guys here really loved it, but I don't see it as a 2019 type game. It's got it's upside in a decent career mode and good AI, but it's got so many negatives mostly tied to the platform/engine it's built upon. NH4 got a bit of an overhaul, but it barely moved the needle for me from the quality of NH3. Again, yes, there were some upgrades, but it's still so far behind from where it should be for a game in 2019/2020 for these consoles, especially for a premier sport/racing series and a game at a high pricepoint.

Sounds to me like NH5 is a definite skip at this point. Time will tell I guess, but this information here doesn't sound promising. Just release a 2020 paid DLC pack or something for new cars/skins for like $20. Nevermind a new game. They should take some time, move this over to a new engine that actually allows them to make a quality racing game that fits current standards.
