Triple Play?

IRL there is a 1 and 325 chance you'll see a triple play, From 2000-10 only 35 triple plays have occured. So has anyone ever managed this rare baseball feat in MLB the Show. Is it even possible with the way the game is coded.

It absolutely is possible - on a grounder to third with the 3B playing on the line or fielding a ball to his right it can happen. I don't remember the year but I've definitely had at least one around the horn one - and with the improvements to double play turn animations in recent iterations it might be easier to pull off now.

Online I've had several over the years, usually taking advantage of stupidly aggressive baserunning.

Re: Triple Play?

Nice. I always hear people comment on getting their first no hitter or perfect game but never about a triple play. It's not as exciting but still rare enough to be pretty cool imo.

Re: Triple Play?

I don’t have video proof sadly but I had one this year. Runners on 1st and 3rd. Miguel Cabrera at bat. He hit an absolute rocket to 3rd. Momentum led me straight to a force out at 3rd base. Threw to second base for the second out and then threw out miggy (0 rating speed) at first.

I have also thrown out miggy at 1st from right field lol

Re: Triple Play?

I've pulled off plenty online but it's near impossible offline. I can barely get a 3rd to 1st double play.

Re: Triple Play?

I turned one in ‘18

I’ve hit into two thus far in ‘20

One legit where I hit hard grounder to third with pitcher after failing to get bunt down. 3rd baseman playing bunt fielded stepped on 3rd then threw to 2nd and then 1st.

Other was hit and run with 2 on and hit liner to shortstop

Re: Triple Play?

My excellent baserunning has caused me to hit into a few.

Re: Triple Play?

I turned one. The CPU was trying to pull off a hit and run, and lined it right to the SS who was moving to cover the bag, just stepped on 2nd and tossed to 1st. Come to think of it I could have pulled off an unassisted triple play had i thought to just tag the runner, running to 2nd...
