Do people really buy cards for 500,000 stubs or more?

I see certain cards that are listed as buy now of 500,000 and up. Highest I've seen is 1,000,000. Have you or has anyone you've known actually spent that many stubs on a card? I know cards start high and go down from there but sometimes certain cards are rare and not many are out there. Do rare cards like Andrew Miller breakout start at 1 million then go to 999,999 and then 999,998 etc? Does Mike Trout always start around 500,000 and then go down to 499,999 etc? What's the highest you've paid for a card or what's the highest a card has sold for? I can't imagine anyone buying a card for 1,000,000 stubs or even 500,000 but I've never owned that many stubs before so maybe it's just me.

Some people have insane stub counts and put those orders in so they can work the market more and make more stubs. The stub cap is 5M

Never underestimate how much time or money some people will put into a game. Some people put thousands of dollars, tens of thousands, in each year, while some people (lets optimistically hope students!) will happily play the market for 10 hours a day, making a ton of stubs.

I wouldn't worry about it, it's not particularly an issue in a game like DD, not compared to mobile games and the more obvious pay to win games where skill is less important than cards/equipment/whatever they sell

So then cards have sold for 500,000 plus stubs?

The most I have spent for a card was two years ago, when Lenny Dykstra was in the game. I got him at around 30000 stubs, and from what I remember, he went off at around 40000 or so stubs. Other than that, I just use what I get in packs or spend no more than 5000/6000 stubs on a player.

I hate the fact that they tax you on the cards you sell. If I place a card out for 5000, I should get 5000 back. lol

Yeah, no program needed. It was a 93 Postseason card. The best DD team I ever had. Im a diehard Phillies and Indians fan. My Outfield was Dykstra in left, Ashburn in center and Albert Belle in right.
3rd was Schmidt, 2nd was Chase and 1st was Hoskins.
All diamonds with the exception of Hoskins. Didnt matter though, his power was insane.
