MaddenMania Reflections

Just curious if there's still some active OS'ers that were Maddenmania regulars back in the early 00's?

I was clearing out my garage and found some old printed out copies of my Chiefs dynasty thread from MM. I remember the spreadsheet I created that helped you make fair trades in franchise. I think a guy named Kelvarr helped me with it.

I had a pretty good set of All-Pro sliders that were widely used too. Sliderology was the term I used lol! Had to abandon that though. It became obsessive and maniacal at one point.

Then I started thinking about when they banned me after I had started playing NFL 2k3, discovered how good it was and began "ministering" about it all over the forums LMAO! Good times!

I think I was more of a regular at MaddenPlanet/TotalMadden:

https://web.archive.org/web/20010801...et.com/madden/
https://web.archive.org/web/20040815.../maddenplanet/

I can't remember the details, but for some reason I avoided MaddenMania - I think it was the owner or some mods there that rubbed me the wrong way. Didn't they basically steal TotalMadden's domain? (it expired and they registered it under their nose). I could be remembering it wrong.

BlyGilmore and MadScientist are the only admin/mods I recall. Not sure about them stealing a domain.

Re: MaddenMania Reflections

I love those old archive threads you posted. Digging a little deeper, some fascinating info on Madden 2001 https://web.archive.org/web/20010802...pc/index.shtml

Quote:
Madden 2001 PC producer Scott Bandy talked to us about the game :

on offensive audibles - if the user attempts to continuously audible from the line of scrimmage, just to throw off the opposition, he will notice that there are definite consequences to repeatedly calling audible plays at the line of scrimmage
on atmoshpere and crowd 'intelligence' - the crowd will be very responsive this year, and not just in the audio portion of the game. In order to emulate the crowd reaction in the real NFL, users will notice that attendance will change depending on the team's record, and the importance of the game. So, if a team is leading it's division, and is playing for a chance to clinch a playoff spot, the stadium will be packed. If the team is struggling, and the outcome of the game is meaningless, there'll be plenty of good seats available.

Pretty advanced stuff there. Maybe one day Madden will learn how to implement it.

Re: MaddenMania Reflections

Pure social media hilarity. That's what I remember about MM.

That and the Madden Manifesto.

.. I give the site a "6.5"
