pure analog batting on legend difficulty

Looking for some pointers here. I am playing with the Pirates and using Legend difficulty. I am stubborn and refuse to give up on pure analog and go to zone or directional. I am 5 games into my franchise and haven't hit a homer yet and only have scored 2 runs.

What I am trying to figure out is when is the best time to start pulling down to begin my stride? Seems I am either way out ahead of the ball or way too late. I was looking through old posts on here and I saw some that said the best time to begin to stride is right before the pitcher releases the ball. Appreciate any pointers that can be given.

it depends on the length of the stride and the pitchers wind-up. usually when the pitcher's body starts moving forward...i mean i could get into it here but i'd start with that. treat it like real life where it's different for all your players and the pitcher they face..
