Re: Skater XL: A Skateboarding Noob's Journey

Shoot, if Skater XL was a problem that awaited rewards to be earned, I wonder how casuals will warm up to Session. It has a few more pains along the way of the dual-stick/trigger control scheme, but I love that hardcore aspect myself.

I didn't even know about this title and I may try it out. Well written Rob, well written.

I picked this up after reading this and I'm sure glad I did. I got session about a month ago and I just couldn't do the controls. I played about an hour and couldn't land a thing so I gave up and havent touched it since. That experience really scared me off of skater XL. I managed to get the hang of the controls for this game instantly and just enough to make me feel like it's not a futile effort to land tricks.

I used to run line after line in Skate trying to make cool runs so I'm good with the lack of direction.

I will say I find it extremely weird to be skating downtown LA with no other people like I'm in the movie Legend but it's not a game breaker.
