Alex Ovechkin is such an interesting personality. Sidney Crosby, the other outstanding player of his generation just does not have the charisma of Ovie in my opinion. I don't want to discuss who is the more valuable player but in an overall perspective I think Ovie is the more entertaining one.

It's not Crosby's fault. Hockey players in Canada are taught to not show any personality or have an opinion beyond old cliches.
This is taught at a very early age.

It's ironic that during the Summit Series, Esposito complained about the Russian's being robots. Now it's the reverse.
Canadian players are taught to play the same way and show no personality.

This is so true. Coming from a Pens fan, I can see this. Crosby is a class act. But Malkin is a dynamic personality. All the Russian players seem so unique personality wise. I've always found Ovi to be an exciting, interesting guy and an electric player, even if I've been upset at him at points during his career.

Yeah I think you're actually right. Back in the eighties the Canadians were the colorful individualists and the russians the drilled team players. On the other hand no team is as drilled today as the russians were back then so you can't really compare. I still think Canadians are individualists but at todays standards they are more team play than the russians seem at least.

And there do exist some canadian personalities today too...

If Crosby was taught not to show personality why does he whine so much on the ice to refs? Lol
