Line of scrimmage

Is it just me or does it seem like the spotting of the ball is off more so than not. You would think that a video game could get that right.

Why? The real league isn't very good at it, either.

To answer the actual question, I've noticed some variability in the spot vs what it looks like it should be, within a yard or so. What looks like a first down comes up as 3rd and inches, that sort of thing.

But that's why I brought up the real NFL...what I see from Madden is within the bounds of the variability we get from real-life measurements, where we use a dude eyeballing where to plant a stick, a chain attached to that stick, and a line judge eyeballing forward progress of the ball (not the runner) as best he can, whether he can actually see the ball or not.

Now, the CPU obviously knows where the ball actually is, so there's no reason it can't be accurate 100% of the time. And I somehow doubt Madden deliberately put that variability in on purpose. But I also feel like, until the NFL upgrades from 20th-century technology to measure forward progress and line-to-gain, that variability is ok in Madden, too.

Re: Line of scrimmage

My biggest issue is animations. The reach for it animation is cool but you can't interrupt it. Or there will be times where the animation triggers and it gets moved and you still got credit for a td or first down even though it was obviously short.

Yeah. I can live with results being variable. Animations that clearly don't match the actual results, yet that also don't override those results, is harder to look past.
