Do commentators say names for generated draft class players?

There continues to be discussions about this. Yes, they do.. but only for offensive players. Defenders remain silent.

If you edit first or last name they will not. Last year they did and had a decent name database.

If you edit their first or last name they will still say the name. If you edit the draft class prior to the draft they seem to not say names. I’ve edited several players after drafting them in the preseason portion and they do in fact say their edited names.

That's really good news. So you can't edit anything in the draft class before the preseason or just no names? I can do some testing tomorrow too. Thanks for the tip.

I didn’t test it and no longer have access to the free trial. I had one franchise where I edited a player’s last name prior to the draft and commentators wouldn’t say it during games. During the season I tried editing his name to other names I’ve heard commentators say and they still wouldn’t say it.

After the draft I would edit players during week 1 of preseason or later and didn’t have an issue. I noticed one player I drafted who had a name that wasn’t being said, so I edited his name in week 2 and announcers began saying his new name.

I gave it a shot but no luck for me. I just simmed ahead one pre-season to the next so there'd be a fully unedited draft class. Then edited some rookie QB, RB, WR last names to; Jones, James, Johnson, Davis, etc, and I got nothing from the announcers.
You must have found some obscure way around this or they nuked it on a patch.
