Just curious what everyone thinks about player ratings for 2021. How much will opt outs affect player ratings? How much will a 60 game season affect player ratings?

We know SDS uses a 3 year average to set ratings but how much will this year affect those ratings?

SDS says they use a 3 year sample size to determine ratings.

I'm guessing 2021 will be weighted under other years for player attributes.

I'll tell you one thing though, it's going to negatively impact ratings accuracy for the next three years, regardless of how they weigh it. Weighing it less just reduced that impact.

My guess is it's more based on plate appearances than seasons so this season will be about 1/3 as valuable as a normal season.

The issue more stems from 2020 rookies and break out players. Otherwise yes, this.

I hope not to see any drastic rating changes in ratings for any attribute ratings based on the 2020 tournament (I still refuse to call it a season). for the most part I won't mind seeing those attribute ratings in 21 be really similar to 20. maybe they should base 2021 ratings something like 50% 2019, 25% 2020 & 25% 2018. hopefully when they start doing ratings updates in 21, they'll stay on top of those ratings changes early and often. I'm talking about player attribute ratings, if I didn't already mention.

Given that they use three-year weighting, and the metrics they use are rate stats, any differences are not likely to be that noticeable.
