Carry-over File Saves in MLB 21 .... What exactly do we Lose ?

    Just asking for clarification.
Do We Lose ONLY Year-To-Year FRANCHISE Saves, or do we also lose the quick transfer of individual (classic) roster files, as was introduced in MLB 20. Another issue is do we Lose the ability to "Import/Export" players from a franchise file, into a roster file.

Re: Carry-over File Saves in MLB 21 .... What exactly do we Lose ?

For me it is a major pain for this year... the reason is the game is delayed a month. also roster creators usually take a month to create them.. it will be even longer this year because now they have to start from scratch because we can't use the export and import trick from a previous year. so your looking at June before you even play with a accurate roster rather then April like previous years

This year my plan was to play the show 20 now in a franchise in a updated roster I have been working on with service time updates contract etc so it was like it was 2021. then I was simply going to play that franchise into mlb 21.. now that can't happen. I either have to sit back wait a month of the game being delayed then wait another month for the roster updates. or spend weeks and days of time fixing the rosters.

So I will probably just stick to 20 this year. and maybe buy 21 at the end of the year. usually I loved starting my franchise with the big roster updates in April. and I was really going to use the carry over saves at it's best this year because of the delay and the fact we can edit service time made this possible.

To answer your question I don't think we will be able to import rosters either.. simply for 2 reasons the XBOX that feature won't be in the PS5 version because they won't make it for one and not the other and xbox has no previous versions of it.

The other reason is people have said well.. if franchise is changing then that is why carry overs don't work meaning the rosters have changed... this also means a importing of an old roster won't be compatible..

so it's either the xbox fault or. they are changing franchise so the rosters are different.. either way both would not work with importing rosters. my speculation of cause I hope I am wrong.

How can you say these things for sure.
There is no confirmation of these things, correct ?

I am speculating using logical thinking that is all, taking a educated guess and I see no reason why that roster import option would be in the game if carry overs are not in the game. if import rosters from last year was in the game then it would make zero sense why franchise can't be as well. unless we are talking about franchise being completely different here. who knows if it is they might pull a EA and take 30 team control out if it's completely rebuilt and that scares me too madden never recovered from that move.

For 99.9% of the show players this is a non issue.

It’s just seems blown out of proportion here because it’s a hardcore gaming site.

Would it have been great to have it yes. But is it a game killer for me or the majority of others? Imo No.

I’m happy w the news I heard and going into this understand they’re developing for a new system and revamping everything. So not everything from last gen will be there.

Maybe I am dumb, but, I do not correlate the "Y2Y" and roster files as holding hands. They both seem separate to me.

Well anybody that wants a accurate roster wouldn't be 99.9% of people that 'don't care; I am sure there will be 1 million posts of 'when are the OSFM rosters coming out where do I get them?' those people won't know it's going to be later this year without the carry over save exporting players trick

The only answer that matters right now.

                Nobody here knows.

                  So let’s get something straight.

This place “Operation Sports” is a community made up of your arbitrary number of .001% of Show players who care.

This community cares a lot. This community is very passionate about our amazing content creators and slider makers.

And I have actually no problem with SDS going in a new design direction they want with Franchise mode. Knowing them, it will probably be really good. It was overdue, I think we can all agree. But will it be what we have been clamoring for? No one knows that answer till the game drops.

But a ton of us have seen the tides turning on single player offline modes in sports games. And a lot of us have been around and sports gaming for over 3 decades. Reading the tea leaves has become easier and easier. So I can appreciate a lot of the apprehension many in “this” community have.

Posts that piss or in your case take a slight jab on the thoughts and opinions of this hardcore sports community are simply bad form IMO.

I for one am not sounding an alarm. I am merely making a conscience choice to pass on “this” years version of the game because it does not fit “my”needs as a die hard long time Show player.

I have faith MLB 22 can be a great game that I can hopefully consider purchasing for the PS5 if I want to let go of the incredible inventory of classic/fictional rosters I have on 20 and more importantly let go of a couple of franchises I started back on MLB 16 and 17 which have given me over 1500 hours of baseball joy.

A lot of us have become truly attached to carry over saves. It probably was the single greatest “franchise” feature ever introduced to console sports gaming. It was something many of us (according to you) in this paltry .001% dreamed about back when franchise modes became a thing in the early 2000’s.

So take it easy with the “it does not matter posts” in this particular part of the sandlot.

We are hardcore in here. This is our clubhouse. And everyone is welcome.

                  Just be cool man.

We got a big kick in the nuts. So take it easy on some of us who were passionate about carry over saves, and the roster makers....my god we are talking 10’s of thousands of hours of work....potentially done. It is the end of a true era for roster modders for MLB The Show. Hopefully a new era will begin. Hopefully.

                  Will we have a vault?
Will we have Sounds of The Show?

A lot of questions unanswered at this point.

But losing Y2Y is a huge deal to this MLB The Show forum.

                  Peace man.

                      AMEN and well said.

I would also like to add. That a lot of user created rosters will be lost. If we can't carry over rosters from year to year. There is just no way they can or would want to create them year after year. This could be the end of Bacon's Fictional Rosters. Classic and Fantasy rosters of the past. Or Historical Rosters.

Sure the Year to Year saves may come back. But I ask myself how many features have been taken out this generation that have never come back?

'20 is a great game both on and off the field. Uniform selection is the best it has ever been. Teams with new parks have them. Gameplay is great. With no carry over in the immediate future, why would I want to leave behind a Franchise that I have literally spent years building? It just doesn't make sense.

RTTS (the most popular mode in the game) and Franchise will be impacted. There is a risk that roster shares, CAPs and so on may also been impacted.

In a worst-case where there is no means to perpetuate rosters forward, that "99.9%" that are unaffected may very well be more like 30% (and if you have/will ever used/use a roster from the vault, you too will be impacted).

While many here may be "over-reacting" (myself included), I feel like you're doing the opposite - I don't think you fully appreciate the impact that this could have (either that, or you're just trolling).

Could the benefits outweigh this issue down the road? Sure. But it doesn't change the fact that (depending on the breadth of this issue - which none of us know right now) it could have a significant impact on the community.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Carry over saves was one of those things that separated this game from the others. It's something that I wish Madden and 2k would have adopted. Hopefully they'll bring it back one day and the other games will adopt it.
