Hockey Atmosphere

Just watching the Leafs game and listening to the music being player during break. Blaring rock music like GNR and Van Halen. Started playing a quick game of NHL 21 and listening instead to some indie band singing about ceiling fans. Man do I want custom music back.

Immersion is a huge factor in enjoying a game for some people. Myself included. NHL2K8 is a fantastic hockey game but the energy is like someone is playing noise from a crowded airport over crappy speakers and it completely ruins the experience. Even with custom music. But NHL20 gets everything else so right with regards to atmosphere. For sheer atmosphere and feel, I think NHL04 and 09 on PC with mods are a great second place.

Really I think custom music make a HUGE difference.

I totally agree. I just don't think it saves a crappy game.

As weird as it sounds, to me custom music gives this game more replicability

My biggest desires for next-gen NHL include custom music & better celebrations/atmosphere. They do a good job with the playoffs but scoring a big goal, especially in the playoffs, is often met with stupid shots of the mascot and a fan dancing weirdly. Very anti-climactic especially with the announcer they have and the lack of variety in the lines. Give us a cutscene like FIFA of players going crazy with the fans.

Fantastic. You've said so before and challenged me that time too. You seem determined to express your displeasure at anything you feel isn't good, which is totally fine, because it's your right to do so. But it's just exhausting because it adds nothing to the conversation other than you jumping on any opportunity to trash a game, and by association, anyone who likes it. So, fair enough, your opinion. But you have to permit for people to have theirs.
