Reclaiming the Throne: A Kansas City Royals Dynasty (2021)

Reclaiming the Throne
A Kansas City Royals Dynasty

When I decided to boot up a dynasty for this coming season, I knew the Royals were a team I had to consider...

Youth, speed, defense, power, and prospects.

The rebuild in Kansas City was accelerated during the 2020 offseason as the Royals decided to put their foot on the gas for the 2021 season.

Is this a roster who should be in the playoffs? No. Is this a roster who could? Absolutely.

- Brinskie Opening Day Rosters
- Armor Hall of Fame Sliders

Good to go from here...first game coming up. Since it's in MLB 20 it's the 2020 schedule, but honestly that doesn't change too much.

Re: Reclaiming the Throne: A Kansas City Royals Dynasty (2021)

Game 1 vs White Sox (0-0)
April 1st, 2021

Solo efforts on Opening Day

Chicago, IL - The Kansas City Royals notched a big win on Opening Day against a talented team in Chicago, 5-4.

The offseason addition of Michael A. Taylor has already produced as the thirty year old, former World Series Champion, doubled in the fourth for two RBI's, proving to be the difference maker by game's end.

Brad Keller got the nod and looked solid through three, but the big bats of Chicago's lethal offense came alive in the fourth and fifth as Keller would surrender three earned on six hits. As the innings progressed and the White Sox began finding their groove, Scott Barlow and Kyle Zimmer were tasked with keeping things in control. The latter did exactly that as Zimmer would fan three in one and two thirds, keeping things where they stood before a converted Save Opportunity from Greg Holland.

Andrew Benintendi's debut with the Royals could have gone better as the former Red Sox talent snagged the hat-trick on K's, but what followed in the order was a healthy supply of power from the sticks of Jorge Soler, Hunter Dozier, and Salvador Perez. Soler, who put up 48 long balls in 2019, should have another season of "touch-em-all" baseball on tap in 2021.

The Royals secured a win over one of the better ace's in the MLB in Lucas Giolito, a tall task to begin the campaign. While strikeouts looked to be an issue for the Royals lineup, Opening Day jitters can always be a suspect. Game two will feature Mike Minor's first start with the Royals organization.

Re: Reclaiming the Throne: A Kansas City Royals Dynasty (2021)

Game 2 vs White Sox (0-1)
April 2nd, 2021

Lynn goes the distance in shutout win

Chicago, IL - In his very first start with the Chicago White Sox, Lance Lynn tossed a complete game shutout to top the visiting Royals, 3-0.

It was a matchup of the two former Texas standouts as Lance Lynn would be pitted against Mike Minor of the Royals. Despite a fairly strong outing from Minor, the sticks from Kansas City would be silenced by Lynn as he allowed just three hits in nine flawless innings of work.

Tim Anderson got things rolling for the home crowd and the White Sox took a third inning lead that was never in danger. Anderson has been on fire so far in this series, tallying four hits in eight attempts with two RBI's and two SB's.

Although the Royals worked out the kinks of game one's swing and misses, Whit Merrifield and Andrew Benintendi have been silent at the top of the order and insult was only added to injury by two GIDP's from Kyle Isbel and Salvador Perez. The Royals would end the day making decent contact off Lynn, but failed to find open green in the process.

The Royals will look for a turn-around opportunity in game three with Chicago as they put Danny Duffy on the mound against Dallas Keuchel.
