Full Season ~ An MLB 2021 Dynasty (M20)

Full Season
An MLB 2021 Dynasty

Every season it seems I struggle choosing which team I want to use as my "go-to" for the full 162 game set. I've done the full 162 before in The Show, as well as Madden and 2K, but I always feel a little bad because I can't use any of the other teams I read about all offseason.

Well, it's time to use those teams...

Team building and managing a roster is a blast, but I like to follow sports from an overall standpoint and rarely get too involved with one team. Doing a thirty team control has never appealed to me because I've always thought of it being too much to handle, but I came up with the idea of just living inside the franchise world, playing one highlight game a day.

Every day I will choose a new game and team to play with, documenting the results. I'm not always going to choose the highlight matchup, sometimes it'll be two powerhouses, or other times it will be the Pirates playing against the Dodgers. I may even throw in a Triple-A or Double-A game if some big prospects are playing each other.

Let's do this...

- Full 162 games, Quick Counts
- Brinskie Opening Day Rosters
- Armor Hall of Fame Sliders

Good to go post... I'll be keeping my Royals franchise for now, but I'm going to focus on this one for a bit. I'm excited to choose some solid matchups...beginning with last year's prolific Opening Day contest with deGrom facing Scherzer.

Game 1 vs. Nationals (0-0)
March 26th, 2021

deGrom dominates in Cy Young quest

New York, NY - In what will be a tough division all season long, the Mets secured an Opening Day victory over the 2019 World Series Champions, 2-1.

With two perennial Cy Young candidates on the mound, scoring was bound to be at a premium. Thankfully, the Mets would get on top of Max Scherzer early in the first before the three time Cy Young Award winner would settle in.

Michael Conforto and Brandon Nimmo gave Scherzer a quick one-two punch as Nimmo would score Conforto following his laser double. Conforto, an All-MLB Outfielder in 2020, got his new campaign healthily underway with two doubles and a run scored in four tries. Brandon Nimmo looked solid at the dish with the long ball, and Pete Alonso and JD Davis recorded hits off Scherzer who ended the day with two earned across seven innings.

If there's anything the Mets need to do it's score runs and play defense. Well, things nearly went South for the NL East affiliate as the eighth inning would see a Michael Conforto error in Right Field that lead to Trea Turner recording his first RBI. Jacob deGrom would be pulled in favor of Trevor May who worked out of the jam before Edwin Diaz would shut the door on Washington's ninth inning hopes. New York's two-time Cy Young arm would end the day allowing just three hits across seven and a third with seven fanned.

In what was a quiet start for Francisco Lindor's debut with the Mets, the talented Shortstop did record a solid double play as he kept things in check, defensively. Kyle Schwarber recorded a double in his first stint with the Nationals.

Re: Full Season ~ An MLB 2021 Dynasty (M20)

Game 2 vs. Nationals (0-1)
March 28th, 2021

Eighth spells troubles for Mets

New York, NY - In back-to-back games with the Nationals, the Mets experienced eighth inning woes as Washington capitalized on today's opportunity to win, 3-2.

Carlos Carrasco got the nod to follow Jacob deGrom's win on Opening Day and came through with a strong performance in seven and a third. While Mets management likely kept Carrasco on the mound one batter too long, the thirty four year old looked to be catching fire after following up Victor Robles' eight inning double with a strikeout on Andrew Stevenson.

Following the strikeout, the Nationals' order flipped and Trea Turner put his mark on the game with a huge shot to left. The two-run HR knotted things up for the Nationals as Carrasco was relieved by Trevor May who kept things tied up.

Aside from another big day from Michael Conforto and a solo shot from Pete Alonso, the Mets offense remained inconsistent as Steven Strasburg worked through the usual consistent bunch. Brandon Nimmo scored Michael Conforto off the early triple and Alonso's solo shot was much needed insurance, but two runs is far from enough run support for any starting pitcher. Francisco Lindor recorded his first hit atop the lineup and drew a walk in three tries.

Seth Lugo was charged with the loss as Victor Robles went yard in the top of the ninth and New York failed to squander Brad Hand's close in their final chance.

The Mets will fall even on the early campaign as the three game set will conclude with Taijuan Walker facing off against Patrick Corbin.
