Simulation vs Competitive

I’m a little bit confused on the effect between both Competitive and Simulation with offline play. I’ve been playing The Show since 08 so I consider myself pretty versed on the nuance’s between the difficulty levels. Now with the new gameplay styles, I’m wondering how these effect the difficulty levels offline and more particularly in Franchise. I play on Legend with both pitching and hitting.

I read that Simulation pretty much acts as the same gameplay style as all the games released in the past. If I chose Competitive in offline play, does this beef up the CPU AI during games? Any information or perspective would be appreciated.

Competitive means it is based on your input.

I take this to mean if I have a low power hitter but I always make solid contact (zone or analog or whatever they are called) the result will almost always be a hit. This means that I can hit 50 home runs with a hitter who doesn't have a lot of power because it is all based on my perfect user input.

If you liked the game in the past, and played classic and directional or your inputs of choice, stick with simulation.

Thank you for that explanation, makes pretty good sense to me, kind of what I was thinking in the first place. Guessing I just needed to hear it from someone else.

It was mentioned in the stream or Q&A video. There is also a small help blurb when loading the first time if I remember correctly as well.

I remember Ramone saying it somewhere though.

To be fair I am extrapolating a little with the example I had but he said something along the lines of stick skills reign supreme in competitive and to feel like previously games use simulation.

I'm a sim head, but I'm tempted to give competitive a try. Kind of hoping it will make the game a tad more difficult, especially since my stick skills aren't what they were.

But I noticed if you select simulation, it recommends veteran as the difficulty. If you select competitive, it recommends hall of fame. That makes me thing competitive may actually be easier.

Honestly, try starting on Simulation with both pitching and hitting on AllStar. It's an overall balanced experience, and the more you keep playing on it, the more you'll get better to the point you'll want to bump to HOF.

I'm planning to play All-Star either way; I'm just curious if Competitive gives the AI a bit of a boost over Simulation or not.
