Perfect Perfect = Out?

I don't have any problem with PP's resulting in outs on a regular basis, but I thought SDS said that they should result in hits 99% of the time...

I would estimate that I've had about 25 - 35% of my PP's be outs so far this year, including multiple times of a few in a row. Lots of them being screamers to 3B off right handed hitters or warning track power shots with power hitters.

Anyone else notice this?

Again, don't have a problem with it per se, but I can't be the only one...

I tell my athletes all the time you can't aim where you hit it. Baseball players square balls up all the time and hit right at someone.

Obviously a hard hit ball results in a hit more often than a soft hit, but in real life and thankfully in the Show its not an automatic hit.

Re: Perfect Perfect = Out?

25-35% comes out to hitting somewhere between .650 and .750 on Perfect-Perfect hits. I think that's pretty close to realistic there.

Re: Perfect Perfect = Out?

The 99% you are remembering is they will be a fair ball 99% of the time.

I found it strange that this was such a big deal as it was at 98% last year.

If perfect-perfect was a hit every time that would be terrible, unless it was a super rare occurrence. Think of how often an MLB absolutely squares up a ball only to hit it directly into a glove of a fielder.

This is the correct answer.

I also found it odd that 98% was "too low" lol. Like, What?

Re: Perfect Perfect = Out?

Thanks for the clarification. Makes sense.

Oddly, I don't remember hitting ANY PP's foul last year. None so far this year.

But the BABIP difference between 20 and 21 is massive.

Glad it's not a bug.
