Unknown Mars Bursts Onto the Scene, Hired as Bruins New Football Coach

UCLA BRUINS FOOTBALL

While many college football programs are closing up shop after spring games, UCLA is just getting started.

After two short inexplicable subpar seasons (6-7, 6-6) as head coach, the Karl Dorrell era has officially been shut.

The program still leaves a lot to be desired, as the roster is very young with only five returning senior starters. Coach Flacko Mars will have his work cut out for him, and apparently on a very short leash at that.

Party Like It's 2004...

Because it is. At least for as long as you are in this thread it is... for now.

This upcoming year marks the beginning of the 2004-05 college football season, so things may look a little different than how they do in real life. Conference alignments, players, team uniforms, coaches, etc.

That's because I've decided to run it back with one of my favorite games, NCAA Football 05. All this really means is that the starting rosters are different. I love the structure of college games because they take on a life of their own after a couple seasons with generated recruits, so it really doesn't matter which year the dynasty starts in.

Plus, my Xbox 360 busted so I can't play NCAA 14 at the moment anyway.

Nonetheless, I look forward to trying to build UCLA into a team that can find some consistency and repeated success. Something they haven't been able to do it quite some time, if ever even. Especially considering the historic success of their basketball counterpart.

Recruiting Rules

1. Our pipeline is mainly California (and the surrounding area) guys, so to limit the national reach and to bring fairness to the recruiting pool in order to avoid building a powerhouse easily, a limit of only three (3) 5-star ranked players, three (3) 4-star ranked players, and six (6) 3-star ranked players who reside in hometowns outside of California, Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon may be recruited.

2. If it is clear that recruiting has become too easy, then further restrictions will be implemented in terms of how many players of each caliber can be recruited and what the interest level must be.

Redshirting Rules

1. Redshirts may only be used on freshman players rated below 75 and sophomore players rated below 60 overall.

Basic Settings
System: Dolphin (GameCube Emulator/PS2 Controller)
Game: NCAA 05
Skill Level: All-American
Sliders: Custom
Penalty Sliders: Custom
Quarter Length: 7 Minutes
Injuries: On
Home Field Advantage: Off

Staff Announced at Mars' Introductory Presser

UCLA BRUINS FOOTBALL

UCLA's newest head coach, Flacko Mars, took to the podium this morning to give the team, media, and fans alike a taste of what's to come and what is to be expected during his tenure.

Mars gave a fiery and passionate speech about the state of the program and how he plans to 'reignite and revive' what it means to be a Bruin.

Quite frankly, it was like all the other introductory pressers in existence and nothing special worth noting besides the selection of his staff.

Calling the offense will be Coach Mars, but the official offensive coordinator position was announced to go to Cory Paus, a former starting quarterback for the Bruins from 1999-2002. He played one year in the CFL for the Calgary Stampeders and will now be stepping onto the sidelines for his alma mater.

On defense, DeWayne Walker steps in as the new defensive coordinator. Walker played for the CFL's Edmonton Eskimos in 1982 and the USFL's Oakland Invaders in 1984 and Arizona Outlaws in 1985. A former defensive backs coach, Walker recently had stints with the New England Patriots, USC Trojans, and most recently the New York Giants. Being in the circle of the NFL, Walker brings clout to the recruiting side as well.
