New Game & 12 Team Playoff???

So, now that the workings are providing us with another playoff format, I guess the 12 team deal, will the new game include this? What you all think?

Probably not initially because the 4-team playoff contract with ESPN runs through 2026 and the next game is scheduled to be released before that. I would expect it to be included in the release for the 2027 season, if this proposal passes.

I'd like an option to do a 12 team playoff or 8 teams or 16, etc. Let's have customization.

It likely won't be approved in time for it to be included in the game.

Off topic but I hope they bring back the traditions abd pre game ESPN presentation. Always gets me hyped at a white out game in happy valley on 14. Imagine the possibility with ps5 and traditions. Like wit Michigan you could probably have them run out and tap the banner with the entire band and media all shown like real life. Maybe I’m a bit carried away but it better not be as lame as madden.

Re: New Game & 12 Team Playoff???

IF the NCAA is not directly involved with the game, I don't see why there shouldn't be a 12 team playoff option. Based off the last full season in 2019, this is what a 12 team playoff would look like for the 1st two rounds:

(8)Wisconsin (at large) vs (9) Florida (at large)
(5)Georgia (at large) vs (12) Memphis (AAC Champs)
(6) Oregon (PAC-12) vs (11) Utah (at large)
(7)Baylor (at large) vs (10)Penn St (at large)

(1)LSU (SEC Champs) vs 8/9 winner
(2)Ohio St. (Big Ten Champs) vs 7/10 winner
(3)Clemson (ACC Champs) vs 6/11 winner
(4)Oklahoma (Big 12 Champs) vs 5/12 winner

Of course the new system isn't perfect, you would have a PAC-12 Championship rematch and #17 Memphis (AAC champs) would get a playoff spot in place of #12 Auburn and #13 Alabama.

I got to be honest and say those 5 through 12 seed games look boring as heck but thats just one example from 2019.

In your scenario, Utah would have dropped to either #10 (what I'd expect) or #12 to avoid a rematch of the PAC-12 Championship Game.

If the dropped to #9 instead that would result in a match that Oregon won in the Rose Bowl that year 28-27.
