lets give ea some kudos for this CFM upgrade

its easy to bash ea when they do not touch some modes

but it seems they did a great job for franchise

hopefully they build on this for future years

what i would like to see for madden 23 and beyond

1 more score bugs modal after ESPN NFL NBC FOX CBS

2 more faces in create a player ps5 like for ex white guys with dreads as of now any white with dreads u only have 1 face to choose more dreads hair colars like red blond etc

3 have a mode ps5 where u can go inside your team stadium we all know ea has access to all kinds of photos maybe this can be like a 4 year project where u do 8 stadiums a year this way see the history of your fav team

4 put hook and ladder type plays in the game for kickoffs and end of game not every qb can throw 80 yards

If it all works, they'll get praise. If they think this buys them another 3 years of not doing work on the mode after this, they'll catch flack again, rightfully so.

I have to agree with the OP EA really should get some credit for delivering on their promise to fix franchise.

I'm reserving my excitement. Things have been hyped before but execution lacking.

Re: lets give ea some kudos for this CFM upgrade

EA has checked so many of my boxes this year.

- Staff management and the depth of the skill trees
- Scenario engine greatly expanded, no more text convos, actual in-engine meetings between Coach and players/GM with a range of topics. Coach press conferences as well, rendered in-engine. Apparently there's 35 new scenarios, developed by a community member.
- Week-by-week planning that is more in-depth and at the same time more streamlined. Just very well executed.
- Redesigned user interface is visually refreshing, and the News feed (while not really changed) is back in prime placement.
- The promise of a massive scouting overhaul to be revealed at EA Play and launched in September
- Updated morale algorithm making a notable negative impact on 2/3 of my starters on a 2-5 Dolphins.
- Pre-game presentation much improved from last year (especially considering it's missing half the commentary in the beta, as noted in the Gridiron notes), along with some nice updated broadcast graphics and stadium happenings.
- "League History" added last year but only had the seasons you played in Franchise? Now has every season dating back to 1967.

Observations:

At the end of the first season, the entire coaching staff (HC and coordinators) were fired for the Raiders (2-15), and the Bills/Titans/Vikings (all 5-12). Good for the game to release the whole coach staff, which not even NCAA's coach carousel got right. Chargers (6-10) fired both coordinators but kept HC Staley, Steelers (7-10) fired just their DC.

After these teams were eliminated in the playoffs, the Ravens fired both coordinators, Seahawks fired their OC, 49ers fired their DC.

Unfortunately, the Vikings, Bills, and Titans all hired one of the other fired HCs to be their new HC instead of a coordinator. Raiders hired a coordinator. Hopefully that better tuned.

5 QBs were selected in the 1st round of the draft (#2 to the Eagles rated 72 with their own pick not one they traded for this year, #5 to the Vikings rated 77, #8 to Washington rated 74, #10 to the Steelers rated 75, #16 to the Saints rated 68) and one in the 2nd round (#1 to the Raiders rated 75). None of these draft choices seem horribly stupid like who we saw drafting QBs in M21.

Free agency not working properly at this moment. At least a dozen very worthy players went unsigned, and when pre-season week 1 rolled around were signed to one year vet minimums. Most notable being Davante Adam's 1 year minimum deal on the Falcons (who still have Jones for some reason and of course Ridley). So FA needs a lot of tuning right now. Thankfully this is a beta.

All in all, the complaining from last year worked big time. This is a huge step forward for Franchise. Everyone who said that the complainers were wasting their time and that EA would never listen can officially shove it.

Four things -
  1. THANK YOU. This is the best impressions write up I've seen. Great info.
  2. Think about tossing it in the Impressions Thread
  3. Did you add feedback about FA being messed up into the Ea forums?
  4. Can you test the UDFA's to see if there's still a ton of guys in the 65-72 range after the draft?

Agreed. There is no reason to give them credit. Does it sound great? Yes. But it has to work, work together, and they have to keep building. They got enough of my money based old promises. Not again.
