Contracts in CFM

So after playing the beta now and doing a few sims plus all the other feedback how is everyone planning to work around the issues with the contracts and salary cap in CFM?

So far my only idea is to allow users to cut 3 players and reset the penalty

Re: Contracts in CFM

They should give users the same cap tools that NFL teams have (carry over unused space, restructures, etc.).

The least they could do is just up the cap numbers and actually inflate them year-over-year in a patch.

Exactly the issue is we can’t do what real teams can (even editing contracts)

If we were even able to edit deals and move money down the line manually it would be huge

Re: Contracts in CFM

I can't imagine how big of a nightmare this is for 32-man leagues for the first few seasons of Franchise. In my own solo franchises, I just treat it as a big challenge for myself. I have to let big stars go sometimes because of salary cap. I might have to overload on low-quality guys to fill out the rest of my roster. This is my makeshift solution until we get the ability to restructure contracts. It's not a perfect fix. But, it does make me so much more cap conscious. The free agency issue with Davante Adams is definitely irritating though. However, I wouldn't discount it from actually happening (aside from the salary amount). A few years ago, when I saw Le-Veon Bell hit free agency in Madden, I thought it was the most ridiculous thing ever, as the Steelers finally had a franchise RB. Low and behold, he wanted way too much money. It's not inconceivable that if Rodgers leaves Green Bay, Adams might want out too.

Re: Contracts in CFM

I would be interested to hear from someone who played the beta and messed around with franchise.

I play solo franchise - my concern is not me being able to resign dudes (I’m okay with the challenge) - but rather the CPU not knowing how to manage their team/cap. Was this improved at all from M21? Seeing guys like D. Adams go unsigned in the off-season and then getting signed for super cheap destroys the “real” feel they’re going for!

It was the same as 21 basically.

Only 15 teams as of the beta are under 188m cap for this season
