Suns Trample T'Wolves in Season Opener
Chris Paul led the Suns to a 111-68 win in his team debut

MINNEAPOLIS, MN -- At 35 years old, some NBA pundits question wether Chris Paul still had enough in the tank a team on deep playoff run. Paul answered those questions in debut for Phoenix Suns.

With a game-high 12 assists and 16 points Paul led the Suns to a 111-68 opening night win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Devin Booker added 19 points and Deandre Ayton had 10 points and a game-high 17 rebounds as Phoenix made easy work of the Timberwolves.

After a close first quarter the Suns used a 29-17 2nd quarter to take a 54-37 lead into the half and game was never that close again.

Minnesota was led by Malik Beasley's 15 points, Karl-Anthony Towns managed to 10 points and 4 rebounds in the disappointing performance.

The Suns will have a couple days off before their home game of the season when they host the Sacramento Kings on Saturday night.

Suns use 2 big 2nd-half runs to beat Kings 116-100

PHOENIX -- Devin Booker scored 26 points, Mikal Bridges had 23, and the Phoenix Suns pulled away with two big second-half runs to beat the Sacramento Kings 119-101 on Saturday night.

Bridges was 8 of 15 from the field, going 5 of 8 from long range.

Chris Paul added 14 points and five assists, and Deandre Ayton had 14 points for the Suns who improve to 2-0 on the season.

De'Aaron Fox led the Kings with 29 points and 9 assists, Buddy Hield added 28 as Sacramento moved to 1-1 early in the season.

Kings coach Luke Walton said his team made too many mistakes.

"It's a good learning experience," Walton said. "They've got guys over there, Chris Paul leading the group and an All-Star in Booker, they've got pride. They lost the first night, we knew it was going to be even tougher tonight. We just had some real mental breakdowns and when we did they were ready to pounce on it."

The Suns will have one day off before facing their first back-to-back games starting with a visit to Denver on Monday.

Booker's buzzer-beater keeps Suns unbeaten

DENVER -- After Nikola Jokic put the Nuggets ahead with just 4.5 seconds left in the game, Devin Booker hit a fade-away three-pointer at the buzzer and the Phoenix Suns remained unbeaten by holding off Denver 112-111 on Monday night.

The game-winner gave Booker 22 points on the night to go with 5 rebounds and 8 assists.

"Him being able to knock down shots, and the ability and will to take those shots, is huge for us," Suns coach Monty Williams said.

All five Suns starters scored in double-figures with Chris Paul scoring 21 with 13 assists, Deandre Ayton added 20 points, Mikal Bridges had 19, and Jae Crowder finished with 11 points and a team-high 9 rebounds.

Jokic led Denver with 27 points and 9 rebounds, while Jamal Murray chipped in 25 points and 7 assists, as the Nuggets suffered their first loss of the season.

"Did a lot of really good things. Gave ourselves a chance," Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. "But this is not Year 1 or Year 2 where that's acceptable. We lost a game. We lost a game at home. We have to be better."

It will be quick turn-around for the Suns as they return to Phoenix for a match-up against the Clippers tomorrow night.

Phoenix improves to 4-0 after rout of Clippers

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns had no answer for the Los Angeles Clippers dynamic duo of Kawhi Leonard and Paul George who combined for 56 points. Thankfully for the Suns the rest of the Clippers starters combined to score just 2 points and Phoenix pulled away in the 2nd half for a 121-91 win.

Deandre Ayton scored 17 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in just 21 minutes for the Suns. Devin Booker added 17 points of his own and Chris Paul scored just 11 but dished out 14 assists.

Los Angeles tired to blitz the Suns ball handlers off the pick and roll, but with passers like Booker and Paul the traps were easily broken leading to open three's and dunks for their teammates.

“In the 2nd half, I don’t even know what to tell you,” Clippers coach Doc Rivers said. “There was nothing. Nothing good, it wasn’t one thing. We couldn’t contain them on the dribble, we couldn’t handle the ball, their pressure really got us, the pace got us. They had a much higher energy level.”

Leonard led L.A. with 36 points and 10 rebounds but got little help outside of George's 20 points.

The Suns will be at home again Thursday as they host the Utah Jazz, who have struggled to a 1-3 start to the season and will be without Rudy Gobert who will be sidelined for 6-8 weeks with a severe right ankle sprain.

Streaking Suns make it 5 straight wins to start the season

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns have gotten off to a blazing hot start this season. They improved to 5-0 thanks to a 107-76 win over the depleted Utah Jazz.

With Rudy Gobert sidelined Deandre Ayton took advantage and had his best game of the season with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

Phoenix took a 10 point lead into halftime and doubled it before the start of the 4th quarter.

"We didn't execute the way we wanted to," Utah coach Quin Snyder said. "In games like this when certain players are not able to play, your margin for error is really small."

A pair of road games await the Suns, starting Saturday with the Golden State Warriors who are without Klay Thompson this season.

Ayton dominates as Suns get 6th straight win

SAN FRANCISCO -- Deandre Ayton had 23 points and 23 rebounds, Devin Booker added 23 points and Chris Paul had 26 points with 10 assists as the Phoenix Suns won their 6th straight home game by beating the Golden State Warriors 119-111 on Saturday night.

The Suns haven't lost this season, but struggled to put away the Warriors for much of the night, trailing by 7 after the first quarter. Phoenix rallied back to take a 1 point halftime lead and thanks to a strong 3rd quarter the Suns had enough to hang on for the win.

“We just had to gut it out,” Suns coach Monty Williams said. “I was really happy for (Ayton) to be able to be the guy down the stretch, taking advantage of his size against their switches.”

It was another good game for Ayton, who has found his niche playing alongside the All-Star backcourt of Chris Paul and Booker. Ayton shot 9 of 14 from the field and made five of his six of his free throws.

The Warriors lost for the 4th straight time despite Stephan Curry's 45 point performance. With Klay Thompson out for the season and Andrew Wiggins sidelined for 6-8 weeks after breaking his right thigh.

The Suns will have 2 days off as they travel east to face the Memphis Grizzlies for the first time this season.
