Then. Now. Forever...A Nottingham Forest FIFA 22 Career, presented by BigJDotCom01

Forest_header

I was finally able to obtain a PS5 earlier this summer and I have picked up FIFA 22. I have had plenty of Manager Career's in the past (Hamburg in FIFA 14, Borussia Monchengladbach in FIFA 16, RCD Espanyol in FIFA 19, and of course my Bayer Leverkusen one in FIFA 21). This will be my first one in England and their four-tiered system.

I briefly ran a Forest career with PES 2021 so I am not unfamiliar with them. They had a lot of success in the 1970's, winning back-to-back European Cups. The goal here is to earn promotion from the SkyBet EFL Championship back into the Premier League and then qualify for European competition once again.

CHAMPIONS TROPHY RECAP

StEtienne1_2122
Nottingham Forest made an early exit from the 2021 Champions Trophy Tournament in France.

France (AP) - Nottingham Forest's trip to France for the preseason Champion's Trophy tournament was a short one as they bowed out in the group stage. An opening win over AS-Saint Etienne was followed by losses to Fatih Karagumruk and Stade Brestois.

Manager Ninja went with his preferred 11 in the opening match, a 2-1 victroy over French side AS-Saint Etienne. Goals from Joao Carvalho and substitute Lyle Taylor paced Forest to the opening win in the tournament. But things went south from there as Turkish side Fatih Karagumruk had their way with Nottingham Forest 3-nil on match day two. Forest fielded their "B" side in that match.

They would close out their tourney with a 3-1 loss to French side Stade Brestois. A goal from Philip Zinckernagel put Forest in front late in the opening half in a match where Forest really dominated play. But in a match where Forest needed a win, they could not hold on with Stade Brestois scoring three times in a nine minute span early in the second half to send the French side to a 3-1 victory and helping them top the group.

Fatih Karagumruk defeated French side Montpellier in the first semifinal, 2-nil, with German side Greuther Furth defeating Stade Brestois 2-1 in the other semifinal.

Fatih Karagumruk SK would win the 2021 Champions Trophy as they defeated Greuther Furth 4-3 on penalties after playing to a 2-2 draw in the final in Paris on Sunday, July 18. Aleksander Pesic scored twice in the final and scored the winning penalty kick for the Turkish side.

Stade Brestois' Franck Honorat earned the Player of the Tournament honors with two goals and an assist. He led the French side to a semifinal loss to Greuther Furth.

SUMMER TEAM NEWS

West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire (AP) - As teh 2021-22 campaign approaches, Nottingham Forest have made a few moves in the transfer market focusing on youth, bring in three teenagers.

Robert Navarro was purchased from Real Sociedad for $4.5 M. The 19-year-old center midfielder could see time with the preferred eleven before long. He is a very skilled player and could be a future star at Nottingham.

The other two are a bit more of long term developmental players but the club feels they will be crucial in the future plans of the club. Jayden Braaf was acquired from Manchester City for $3.8M. The 18-year-old winger can play on the left or right side and is an excellent dribbler to go along with his lightning speed.

Alex Balde, a 17-year-old left back, was acquired from FC Barcelona for $4M. He is quick and good with the ball at his feet. He is more of a project but could rotate into and out of the lineup in less important matches.

The club is still looking at adding a center back and had talks with Everton about Jarrad Branthwaite, but talks broke down. The club is also looking at a couple of German central defenders and a striker from Belgium.
