From what I remember it's one of the settings in the main franchise settings tab that has quarter length, difficulty, user/cpu control options for trades and stuff, but I don't remember seeing it when i set my recent franchise up over the weekend.

Just looked and it's not in that spot that I remember it being in. Did they remove it this year?

Just as a side note:

The old progression approach of every four weeks has been unnecessary for a couple of years now.

In the old days, you had to use XP to upgrade individual ratings. If you had it set to every week, the AI would spend it as soon as they got it. As a result, they invested in lower-impact ratings and it would hurt player progression. Setting the progression to every four weeks helped balance that out.

When they transitioned to the new system (was it 19 or 20?), this "every 4 week" thing became moot as upgrade points are earned via XP. Spending an upgrade point now vs in 3 weeks doesn't change the value of that upgrade or impact overall progression.

I’ve never been a fan of the upgrade system. It’s to rpg for me. I remember when players used to progress/upgrade based on how they did in that season.

? They still do. XP is awarded based on how a player performs.

It's not the right approach though. It's cause and effect the wrong way around.

IRL a player has a great season because he is a good player - the equivalent of having good ratings.
In Madden (both EA ratings and franchise progression) a player has a great season, which leads to his ratings being "corrected" to reflect his historic performance.
