FIFA 17 vs. PES 2017: Presentation

Welcome to our weekly FIFA 17 vs. PES 2017 debate. Over the course of a multi-part series, OS contributors Fraser Gilbert and Kevin Groves will be discussing the differences between each game in a variety of areas.

This week, we're taking a look at presentation.

Re: FIFA 17 vs. PES 2017: Presentation

It is totally unfair to compare FIFA's presentation to that of PES. They are not even in the same universe when it comes to presentation. For all the issues with FIFA, one of its strongest points is its presentation. For all that's right with PES, it's weakest point is its presentation. It's almost as if PES actively discourages any work on presentation for fear of remotely approaching reality.

FIFA wins this one going away with it.

Re: FIFA 17 vs. PES 2017: Presentation

Just thinking about it further, PES doesn't even have presentation in the game given the caliber of its development in that area. We should refer to PES as having proto-presentation or pre-presentation elements. These elements may one day evolve into the rudiments of a simple and primitive presentation component. However, they are not there yet. ;-)

Re: FIFA 17 vs. PES 2017: Presentation

I love both games but FIFA clearly wins this race by a country mile. The stadiums, the lighting, the licensing, the soundtrack, and the replays....my god, the replays. I spend several minutes after each match watching skill moves and corkers, it's F'ing great.

PES is as fun a sports title as I've ever played, but these are all areas in which it specifically falters. Doesn't keep me from coming back, just things I'd love to see them eventually improve upon.

I gotta disagree with Fraser's comment about the difference not being monumental....well, it is. I've fired up PES a few times since getting FIFA and I must say that it's not even close. FIFA'a presentation is light years away.

FIFA wins this easily. Hands down.

Re: FIFA 17 vs. PES 2017: Presentation

Fifa is frequently and often just like watching TV and has all the bells and whistles.

PES is never like watching TV.

              Not even close.

As others have said it's a times it feels like Konami isn't even trying to look like a real match on TV.

It does it's own thing and some people love that.

But truly for presentation PES doesn't even turn up:

Sensible world of soccer VS PES is a fairer comparison

Re: FIFA 17 vs. PES 2017: Presentation

PES's presentation, aside from doing a better job this year with mentioning team names in commentary is dreadful. FIFA"s is decent but has a lot of work to do. There are excellent new English stadium announcements this year, but it appears that is the only language they did. Why wasn't this done for other languages? They also need to do a better job having actual team names used in commentary instead of the awful "home team, team that is winning" pronouns. I am also waiting for EA to actual implement dynamic lighting where the sun sets during a match.
