I should've known it would fail as I have files that work flawlessly that were converted from M4A to MP3 via Audacity. Wish a dev would acknowledge the problem.

Use a program like MP3Tag to remove all embedded track numbers.
See if that solves your issue.

If you've purchased this music through iTunes, i'm going to guess it's safe to assume you have iTunes.

In iTunes, go to preferences and click the "Import Settings" button. Within there, choose the option to have "MP3 Encoder" be your default encoder.

Now, find your purchased m4a files in iTunes. Right-click on them and choose the option to "Create MP3 Version".

**None of the files I've done this with and imported to the game have had any issues.**
