I remember talk about this, will it still happen? I'm tired of seeing noobs post silly comments like the one about MJ being Homosexual in the 2k thread. I'm all for expansion of the group but not at the expense of someone that lacks common sense. At least make it that they can only post 3 times a day or something..

I don't think it would help a lot. Immature posters are still gonna post. Leaving a month restriction or whatever will just chase away the good posters.

Do you really care where I sent this from?

I disagree. A waiting period would prevent banned users from making new accounts. That in itself would be worth a month waiting period.
I am the lesson after the fall.

I don't think new guys should have a one month restriction to post but rather a 100 post count before they can create their own thread.

Keeping guys from posting defeats the purpose of a forum. But if you 'force' those individuals to post in correct places or just on other things in general you will more than likely weed out the bad apples. Most of 'em get banned within the first 100 posts anyway so this would eliminate a lot of the 'crazy' threads we see nowadays which clogs up the forums.

I agree with this, except maybe make it 50 posts. It would at least encourage them to discover and use the search feature. Actually preventing them from posting for a month or whatever after they register would probably be counterproductive.

I for one would gladly welcome an age limit on people joining the forum, if your under 18 then no entry. Reading some of the posts in the MLB 2K threads just makes me wish we had this right now...

I don't think that's really enforceable because people would just lie about their age in much the same way they lie about reading the TOS. Plus, I was a member at forums like this (not this one in particular) before I turned 18, and wouldn't want to keep anyone else from having that permission.

Dealing with inappropriate and idiotic posts is just something that comes with the territory when dealing with a website of this size. I think the mods can be a bit bit heavy-handed at times, but I also think that we need to let them do their jobs to enforce the rules. Putting a time limit or post count restriction into place isn't going to keep the number of questionable comments down. All it does is keep people that could be productive members on the site from participating.

We've seen members that have been here for years still end up with a pink name for some of the stuff that they write, so it's not just the newbies getting warned and banned. I think must people who get carded get the hang of what's appropriate on OS after being told the first time. Those who don't get it can get the boot.

We're all well aware of the issues surrounding rookies. Don't post threads here, though, just report them, guys.

                        I'm a "rookie" .... .. .

i wish i could just make a dynasty blog page. it's really what pushed me to sign up for an account. I didn't mind making 3 posts, which was said on the last thread in the beginning. i dont want to jump through hoops just to honor my playing experience. Please dont punish the rest of us who have goals. I appreciate the step to keep this community from spam so i didn't mind making a few posts. Maybe, if some are so bothered by the idiots enough to police then maybe thats good solution, then anyone with common sense can help the forum be more productive, because as it stands....just because of the potential of someone elses ignorance i am not allowed to be productive!

Hi guys, I just wanted to post to add to this conversation that I'm in the exact same boat as the poster above me. I just joined this site to use the Dynasty blogs as well, and don't mind a few anti-spam measures or whatever you guys need to do to maintain order within your community. I don't even mind having to post around the forums to introduce myself a bit to the community and gain that trust. I understand all of that, I'm just hoping that the right eyes see this post so I can get whatever permission I need to begin working on my dynasties as well.

I personally long for the days of old. When OS merged with MaddenMania the quality of the posts/threads/etc. really bottomed out. Although, I seem to remember the NBA forums were like the wild west even back then.

OS used to be like a private club that could weed out/chase away the idiots rather quickly. Unfortunately, such is the price of expansion.
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always get a kick out of these threads. I'm always amazed by the number of grown men who get bent out of shape over a minor inconvenience that they may stumble across on an Internet message board.

                              I chuckle every time.
