ATP Rankings discussion

Hey guys, just for the sake of keeping a civilized discussion about tennis, here is a thread for discussing the current ATP rankings and how you would change it if you don't agree.

1. Novak Djokovic (Serbia)
2. Rafael Nadal (Spain)
3. Roger Federer (Switzerland)
4. Andy Murray (Great Britain)
5. David Ferrer (Spain)
6. Robin Soderling (Sweden)
7. Gael Monfils (France)
8. Marty Fish (USA)
9. Tomas Berdych (Czech Republic)
10. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (France)
11. Gilles Simon (France)
12. Nicolas Almagro (Spain)
13. Janko Tipsarevic (Serbia)
14. Andy Roddick (USA)
15. Richard Gasquet (France)
16. Viktor Troicki (Serbia)
17. Juan Martin del Potro (Argentina)
18. John Isner (USA)
19. Stanislas Wawrinka (Switzerland)
20. Alexandr Dolgopolov (Ukraine)

I was shocked at how many Frenchmen there are in the Top 20. However it is nice to see Tsonga back in the Top 10. Both Roddick and Tipsarevic moved up an impressive 7 spots following the US Open. And it's a little surprising to see Wawrinka still ranked. He hasn't done anything of note for a while.

Nice to see Donald Young up to 57. I hope he can build on his Open performance and keep progressing.

I want to see Tipsarevic in the Top 10. I'm sure he will be eventually. I've just started learning about him, and he's like the Rodman of tennis. He's got piercings on his face, he's got tattoos. He seems awesome. It's surprising his current ranking is his highest ranking ever.

I don't think he's won a title in his career, so that's why his ranking isn't as high. He's a major headcase, tends to lose a lot of matches he should win. But his match w/ Fed at Aussie Open 08 was a classic.

Honestly after the top 4 the quality of players goes down significantly. Soderling didn't even play the Open and lost early at Wimbledon and is still managed to be #6. Roddick despite his USO run is still having a horrible season for his standards and could still somehow wind up top 10.

Del Potro should hopefully be top 10 by the end of the season, since he has practically no points to defend since he was out last year with injury. Djokovic should have #1 locked up by this point, barring an injury.

A lot of young players like Cilic, Querrey, and Gulbis are underperforming. Hopefully some of the new guys break through in the coming season, guys like Raonic, Tomic, Harrison, and Dimitrov who've shown flashes this year.

Not by prize money. This should help explain it.
