Actually Tennis doesn't even make the Top 5.
The winner of the US Open makes 1.8 million dollars. Lionel Messi makes that in about 2 weeks. A tennis player would basically have to complete a Grand Slam and win almost every other tournament to come even close to that.
I just saw an article which listed the top sports...
1. FIFA World Cup - $21 million to the winners ($260 million to all other participating teams for a total payout of more than $280 million)
2. Champions League - $170 million to the winning team and $60 million to the losing team.
3. Dubai World Cup in horse racing - $22 million prize money.
The others: the US Open, boxing, the Royal Ascot Race and the FedEx Golf tournament.
