Saying Rey only caters to kids is flat out wrong. Kids love Rey because of his interaction with them, his lucha based style, and the masks they can wear. Much like 90's Sting with his "Little Stingers" and their painted faces. Children aren't the ones saying his Halloween Havoc bout with Eddy is one of the best matches WCW ever produced. Rey is recognized as not only one of the best cruisers ever, but all around wrestlers by many wrestling enthusiasts that are over the age of twelve.

That isn't exactly what I meant. I appreciate Rey for what he's been able to do in the ring.

However, in the WWE (at least in the past), he has played the same character throughout. He's the underdog in every match, which over time can get super annoying. That was the point I was trying to make.

That was actually directed at the premise that Rey only catered to kids. As far as his character goes, I wouldn't try to fix what isn't broke. Rey reminds me a lot of Steamboat in that he's a great face and (most) people love him that way. The whole underdog stigma is just something he's stuck with.

I wasn't sure if you were directing it at me, as you didn't quote anything. No harm, no foul.

I agree that he fits as an underdog, but even the best fit of a gimmick gets old over time. Sometimes, it seems like with Rey, we've seen the whole story already.

At his size, there's really no other option but to have him be the underdog, unless they went the direction of having him as a heel and having someone like Ezekiel Jackson do all his dirty work for him anyway, and I think the Steamboat comparison is a good one and for the most part I think his character works. The only problem I have with him is that he's the underdog that overcomes the odds a bit too often. Also, he has one of the worst and most annoying finishers of all time and he sets it up and attempts it approximately 7 times a minute in every match he's in.

I am almost positive he meant it towards me.

And I totally disagree with him. Mysterio, in the WWE, has always been for the kids.

Again, I wasn't sure, so I felt like I should clarify my position.
