Not many action movies are 'cinematic masterpieces', and since those guys are mostly gonna be in action movies, it's hard to think they're gonna be getting nominated for Oscars or anything. But The Rundown was a fun movie, Fast 5 seems to be fun, Rock's kid movies seems to have found their audience well enough. Gridiron Gang wasn't that bad either.

In any case, it's hard to knock either of them for not being the next Pacino or DeNiro when it comes to pure acting acumen. But The Rock seems to be finding a niche for himself in that action hero mold, perhaps more than Hogan ever was ever able to. But when it comes to pure success in the WWF/WWE, Hogan will always have the edge. He was the biggest draw in wrestling history, bar none.

I don't think that's exected from The Rock, either. Look at Stallone, Arnold etc. Those guys just made straight up action flicks, with the exception being Stallone's original Rocky did crossover to the mainstream and earn a bunch of Oscar nominations.

They are in Hollywood to make movies for guys like us that enjoy action and some violence.
