if you had to narrow it down, what was the single best year in wrestling history?

sitting at my desk, i came up with this question. it's very simple, but the answers could vary widely. would it be a year of hulkamania? one of ric flair's incredible nwa years? the year of the first wrestlemania? the third? attitude years? nwo years?

pick one year and explain.

The best year was either 98 or 99, but my personal favorite was 89 since I was a kid back then. Over the top characters and my favorite guy Ultimate Warrior.

I miss characters so so so much. It literally makes me ache when I think about it. I don't need characters like Repo Man or Bastian Booger or The Boogey Man to be happy. Just something to make it more fun. It's ironic that in this time when Wrestling has been dropped from the brand identity and that it's supposed to be all about entertainment that all the wrestlers use their real names and all the story lines revolve around real life type stuff. I miss the Minestry, I miss DX, I miss hailing from parts unknown, I miss FACE PAINT. God I miss it all so much. I keep hope that wrestling is cyclical and it'll come back one day, but i'm afraid that it never will.

1998 was a great year for wrestling.

WWF had turned the corner.
WCW was still producing quality.
ECW had risen and become a cult phenomenon.

That's it for me. and yes, Tag Team wrestling was at its best then and some in the 90s.

If were able to add another year i'd put '87 in that time frame as well because WM III was the apex of the "rock n' wrestling" era. It ushered in the era of the PPV as a viable added revenue stream. NWA was still hot as hell with Flair and the Horsemen running wild and you had Sting just coming up the horizon as I believe he debuted in '88.

Overall that 3 year period was pretty much the Golden Age for people of a certain generation.
