Yukes to develop Take Two WWE Games

In a court filing yesterday, it was revealed that indeed Take Two has bought the WWE license from THQ. The more interesting detail is however that Yukes will be retained as the developer of the WWE series. This will almost certainly bode well for the series, as Yukes will now have even greater resources than they had at THQ for several elements of the game. More importantly, Yukes' incredible creation technology will be retained.

What we don't know yet is when the first WWE game will be released by 2K/Take Two -- but the odds of a 2013 release are now much higher with the same developer on board.

What do you all think, is this a net positive or negative for the WWE series?

Very cool. Will be neat to see what Yukes can do with Take Two's leadership. Maybe a lot of things we've been begging for will finally come true.

Can't wait for news to emerge.

        Meh.

I was sort of looking forward to seeing a different spin on WWE games.

Oh well. This isn't the worst thing.

Looks like I won't be buying a wrestling game again soon then. And yeah, it is the worst thing.

@Feldman011teen it's not the worst thing... the worst thing is this means that ****terson will remain as community manager and i really had no desire to see that little imp involved with wwegames ever again

Althought WWE 13 was decent I wanted to see what Take Two would have done.

I'm a little disappointed myself. I don't think Yukes has made a solid wrestling game since SVR 06. Don't get me wrong, some have been good. I thought WWE '12 was pretty good but had to many bugs. WWE '13 had some good features but the STUPID A.I and the one count glitch ruins the experience. I hope 2k is very strict about bug testing. I also hope for improvements on the wrestling engine itself as I still have more fun out of older wrestling engines from No Mercy, Day of Reckoning (1and2), and SVR 06

I'm tired of hearing this. If this was 2003, this might be a good idea, but it is highly unlikely anyone that was there then is there now. And companies often change their name for a reason. People would be setting themselves up for disappointment. Their last WWF game was 13 years ago and their last wrestling game period was 10 years ago.

I'm mixed on this one. Maybe with Take Two it could be better, but who is to say Yukes wasn't as much the problem as THQ was and now there won't be much improvement.

The two most important things for me are AI and animations. The AI is horrible. Maybe we will see a re-write in the next-gen systems.

Animations are too stiff, and slow. Nothing really flows.

And one more thing, they need to be better at taking community feedback. They act like a woman who wants you to tell her how she honestly looks and you tell her that her butt looks big in that dress and she gets mad and doesn't want to hear it.

The 1 count issue, case in point.

I think this is the worst news we could have gotten. The WWE series has become the most complacent and stale, annual series in this console cycle and would have greatly benefitted from a new team with a fresh set of eyes working on it.
                          Have a nice day!

Ive never really liked any of the yukes wwe games. Im not letting them of the hook by blaming thq for lack of resources either.

Im not happy about this, but at least it most likely means we wont have to wait for the next game.
