First time I saw him was when he bodyslammed Yokozuna. I was immediately hooked and he was my childhood favorite at the point up until Austin/Goldberg rose to prominence.
He seemed to be in line for a title run in 1996 before the injuries. I believe he could've been world champion at some point but they killed and buried him in 1997 by putting him with NOD. Though if you watch documentaries, like Ron Simmons on the JBL show, Ahmed didn't do himself any favors either.
How was the Nation a burial? Dude literally got hurt the first night.
Raw after Armageddon. Welcome to the McMahon Helmsley era. HHH Takeover begins tonight. Story of the show is the NEW Stephanie. No more "daddy's little girl".
Spoiler
Raw starts with the NEW IC champ, Chris Jericho. Xpac interrupts his promo and fans booing Xpac like crazy and has a certain chant directed at him. Xpac finishes with his iconic line. "Your *** is grass and I'm gonna smoke it!"
GTV returns after being gone for quite some time. It captures Mark Henry with.....Mae Young! King went crazy lol. Even Lillian in the ring was laughing.
Backstage, Vince arrives to Raw, still shaken up over last night. Comes to Raw with a sledgehammer in hand. Let's just say when he got to the ring, he was 3 letters short of calling HHH a therapist. Fans loving their new chant for "Stephanie Helmsley". Steph explains it all. Turning on Vince for everything that happened with the corporate ministry. Funny part, HHH/Steph ushered in the McMahon/Helmsley era by saying they're gonna....Takeover. I guess we've been seeing reality pan out before our very eyes for 2 decades.
Rock before his match cuts a promo about the former Devil Ray, now retired, Wade Boggs. Dudleys come out as Rock n Sock opponents. Rock wants to know who they are. Bubba's stutter "We're the Du...du...du...", "It....it....it.....doesn't matter what your name is!". First act of new McMahon Helmsley era is making this a no dq match. Next act, bringing in a guy in a Vince mask to be the ref and make a fast 3 count against Mankind. They go scooby doo mode and unmask him and reveal Al Snow!
Next part of McMahon Helmsley era, the women's "evolution". Miss Kitty(who evolved into The Kat) defends her title vs Tori in a chocolate pudding match lol. Kats theme sounds similar to Sables. Xpac randomly comes out in a wetsuit and snorkel to distract Tori. The Kat wins. Or at least that's what Lillian should've called her, but pays for her mistake by ending up in the pudding.
JR/King do a live ad for a 12 inch Austin toy that cuts promos...except he was supposed to. They couldn't get the toy to work. JR had to assure fans it really works. How embarrassing. That surely hurt merch sales. King forgot the batteries. But make sure to visit Electronic Boutiques(maybe even Blockbuster?) to get yours!
Acolytes vs MSP as Steph's revenge against MSP. Match over quicker than it took to type this.
HHH sets up a steel cage match. Hardys vs Edge and Christian! Jeff misses a swanton off the top of the cage! Edge with a corkscrew also off the top of the cage. Edge and Christian win.
Now HHH sets up a triple threat match. Kane vs Billy vs Road Dogg. In other words, really a handicap match. Kane chokeslams Billy, and JRs line "Kane just cracked Mr.***" lol.
Main event set up. Key words, set up. NAO defend tag titles vs HHH and his partner...Test. As expected, DX teams up on Test. Raw ends with DX led by Steph doing the crotch chop.
Rewatching Jerry Springer's Too Hot for TV show, absolutely love the blooper episode. My favorite part was they showed the outtakes of Vince training for the Royal Rumble. Shane yelling go get the chicken.... Vince starts to chase it but the chicken refused to move. Watching Vince try to get the chicken to move, that entire sequence was hilarious.
Got stuck watching 2010 NXT thanks to the wedding playlist on the homepage.
Michael Cole and Josh Mathews just ****ting all over everything is still hilarious.
Heel Cole on commentary was way better than I remembered. I watched Edge vs Ziggler for the WWE title a couple weeks back and Cole was hilarious. They screwed up by elevating him and eventually having him wrestle. Should have just stayed as a heel commentator forever.
