The upgrade is complete, but you've probably noticed the forums are only showing posts up to about April 8. Posts made after that are still in the process of being moved over, and that should take another week or two. Feel free to start a new thread.
The site might feel a little slow while work continues. Engineers are staying on it through the night to get things moving faster again. Thanks for your patience.
You knew it was coming. Just didn't fit in as a commentator, and guess they didn't need to keep him on as a studio personnel.
Now we wait to see who his replacement ends up being.
Hope they find someone good who sticks. This revolving door of commentators needs to stop eventually.
He sucked. He never felt 'comfortable' calling matches, but was okay at storyline 'talking points.'
Mauro Ranallo - if he's interested - would be a very good option either short - term or long - term.
Plus, no more Vince buzzing in his headset or having other guys (Corey Graves & JBL) take potshots at him on commentary.
Although, if I remember he didn't get along with Dana White previously. Not sure how that poor relationship could affect things (again, if he's even interested in coming back).
Sooner or later they need to settle on a real good person. Maybe Cole isn't the best person to be doing this job backstage? His success rate has been real low with finding a good person for that job (ironic since he should know better than anyone what it takes for that role).
When you have Adnan, Jimmy, Kevin all fail in under a 3 year span, you have to do better than that. Even going further back, names like Byron, Phillips, Joe, Vic, Dio, Renee, Coach are names just since 2018 who they had on commentary and eventually moved away from.
The commentary booth has already become basically just a revolving door and that's not good for fans watching having to get used to a diff voice calling the show every 6-12 months.
After listening to Kevin Patrick do commentary on Main Event for a while I would have predicted he would have been perfect for Raw. He has energy, a llight tone to his voice, and the right personality for the tone of modern WWE
But the pace and constant stop-start nature of Raw requires either decades of experience in the business, or just straight up being a robot. You're not going to get good at it in one or two years.

I forgot that Coach came back for that lol. I always thought his first run doing play by play on Raw was underrated. No clue why people disliked him, other than the fact he wasn't JR.

Which is why they really need to develop people in NXT. NXT is developmental. Why can't that be true for commentary too? People would be fine with a revolving door of commentators in NXT because its developmental, you're expecting to be trying out different people in roles and seeing what works and what doesn't, and they're not supposed to stick around forever, unlike main roster where you should expect them for years.

The second time around it just didn't feel like he wanted to be there as much. First time around he wasn't the best commentator either, but at least he was fine being the "straight man" in backstage interviews.
Sorry, not sorry, I had to. As a person that has gone through numerous traumautic events in life, I believe that there is a silver lining in everything if we just look for it... but there is also humor.
Mauro is 1000 times worse. He can stay far away please.

I do wonder if this gets resolved by this week's SD.
Cole said he knew McAfee was gonna be at the rumble this time around.
Not that it'll be McAfee (he even said he had some time in his schedule to be at the rumble), but it does feel like Cole has already been reaching out trying to get someone to fill the spot.
