    WWE Releases

Since this will be a major topic for the next little while, we should have a thread for it. I think we used to back when WWE used to have their annual "spring cleaning".

    Names gone so far:

    Colons
    Hawkins
    Gallows/Anderson
    Mike/Maria
    Lio
    Sarah Logan
    Drake
    Eric Young
    Rowan
    Slater
    Aiden
    Ryder
    No Way Jose
    Rusev
    Curtis Axel

    Angle
    Storm
    Helms
    Mike Rotunda
    Finlay
    Pat Buck
    Kidman
    Daivari
    Scott Armstrong
    Sarah Stock
    Mike Chioda

    And definitely more to come.

      Re: WWE Releases

Zack Ryder is gone now too!

I was just making up a list of names literally minutes before firings happened. 9 of those 14 names have been released since then.

Rusev/Lana, BTeam and Lars are only ones left.

Ya. Been there since the 80s! Finlay gone is a big loss for them as well since he's been so involved in the womens division.

No way Jose is gone too! They really did kill off a bunch of superstars.

          Taker killed Gallows and Anderon.
          Shayna killed Logan
          Lashley killed Jose

That sucks for everyone that’s losing there job, but it’s crazy that their payroll was so bloated. Half the wrestlers that got let go we’re bringing no value to the company

That's what WWE has been saying for years. And what AEW guys have ripped WWE for as well.

Why have people on the payroll if you're not using them? What other company just has guys there for years at a time who rarely if ever actually (get a chance to) contribute to the company? Getting paid to sit at home.

Sucks to see so many lose their jobs, but at the same time, this is what WWE should've done all along. The thing which hurts them is having to do it in one giant swoop rather than have people released over a few months, or just not have this problem to begin with because their roster only has talent which are needed.

Sounds like the NXT cuts could be coming AFTER tonight's show. And looking at all the cuts, how many were on Smackdown? Could we see another wave happening late Friday night/early Saturday morning?

Guessing Lana is right behind him too, even if WWE keeps her, the Lashley story was leading to her gone anyways, and personally shes hated the reaction from fans over the story.

Rusev was likely gone soon anyway; it definitely seemed like he wanted out.

He for sure did. It's why I said he would be the 1 name I'd be least surprised by. Definitely someone who should go to AEW as well

Sad to hear about the releases. This is why the coronavirus ruining everything in our lives right now just sucks. I wished it never happened. Look at the trickle effect it has caused. Rusev being released is probably the most undeserving of all. He was good and deserved better. Now I wonder what will come of the 24/7 Title with many of the releases being lower card guys. Unless it will always be revolved around R-Truth and what trouble he will run into. That Title hasn't been seen since Gronk ran away with it right? Maybe the company can rehire many of these people someday down in the road. But of course, cutting costs had to happen with no more live event revenue and no merchandise money to keep the company flowing.

Call me crazy, but I think it's more the 140,000 dead or the millions who have to worry about paying rent more than a handful of people who were mostly making 6 figures. I mean, yeah, it's lame, but there's some perspective to be had.

Don’t be that guy. People are allowed to be upset about lots of things without having to preface it by making sure to acknowledge all the things in the world that are worse.

Maverick said despite being released, he's still allowed to compete in the CW title tournament.
