I agree with pretty much everything in the article even though for me I don’t want to use Universe like a fantasy booker and setup all the cutscenes.

The most I’d want to do is maybe change up some matches that don’t make sense.

I want them to A. Fix the stuff that doesn’t work. B. Make it more fun for people like me who want to just play matches and follow storylines like it’s a living breathing universe without me having to be the booker.

It needs more variety. Backstage interviews, random attacks that start the storyline. Use Cathy Kelly in the back for quick cutaways between matches. Have call ups and allow for created wrestlers to start filling in NxT. How awesome would it be to have a cutscene announcing someone is going to show up at next week’s raw and the next week the show starts, the music hits and there is the new guy who comes out and does a promo or a legend comes out and is added to the roster if you select that option.

With the Rumble like mentioned give more control. Even if you want it random how about selecting where fill ins are coming from. So I can say heh I want 3 legends in the rumble but random or selected and I want 4 nxt people, etc.

Also add #1 contenders matches. Tournaments for king of the ring, etc.

Personally I just want to play matches and see stuff organically happen. At most see that they put some jobber in elimination chamber and switch him out for somebody who makes sense.

In short they need to work on making universe feel like you are in the WWE universe with as little or as much input as you want.

Something else I wanted to mention. When 2k took over this game I was really hoping. Based on the depth of nba 2k MyNba and how in-depth stuff like College Hoops used to be that it was going to be really cool, especially when they said they were building the game from the ground up.

They straight up lied about this or at best were very deceptive in reference to Universe mode as the framework for Universe is exactly the same as it was before they took the year off. It’s obvious they used the same base code.

At this point universe needs to be totally scrapped and rebuilt from the ground up imo but unfortunately if anything I think it will just be scrapped and some portions of it will be recreated in myGm.

My wishlist:
-control over who wins a match
-promos and story lines that have an effect

Wrestling is not UFC so we need control over who wins a match, the Royal Rumble, PLE etc
The game does a good job of the in ring action but it's missing key components like some kind of outside the ring build for the match.
All we're doing are the matches and it gets boring.

The promo and story line system doesn't need to be much more than text prompts but the wrestlers should have some type of charisma/overness stat that could be affected similar to some of the other boosts.
If they have higher charisma maybe more options are available in the prompt, but if low charisma only 2 options.

With promos and story lines the key is there needs to be an absolute ton of options so things don't get stale which is why there should not be voice acting.
I just checked out a 2K17 vid with text promos and something like that but deeper so that the following week the other wrestler calls you out or if you do another promo you build on what you said earlier.

How great was that? You couldn't download someone's weekly shows and play them out, hands down one of the best features in wrestling gaming history and of course they took it out and we may never see it again.

I remember following two guys and downloading their weekly shows. So good!
