Re: WWE 2K Developer Yuke's Creating New Non-WWE Wrestling Game
I for one am really excited about this. I think wrestling can easily get away with a generic roster. I'm excited to see the direction they take, what modes they include, and how big of a roster they provide. I'll be following this for sure.

Hopefully God has heard my prayers and we're getting Wrestle Kingdom 3. 2K and Visual Concepts has held the WWE game back long enough. So hopefully, this will see the changes I know Yukes is capable of. They been in this wrestling genre for far too long for me to believe it was their fault the WWE titles have been hot garbage lately. Hopefully we get an amazing game out of them! Let's go!

I highly doubt it. If anything I would assume news next year, and release date 2021. It would be crazy if they have a team, what they want to do, and are in development already.

“I think having no competitor isn’t healthy at all,” Furuta said. “When we had competitors in the wrestling space, we were determined not to lose and that was a great motivator for creating something great.
But right now, looking at the market demands, players are expecting something new every time we release a game and we feel like we haven’t achieved what we’ve really wanted to do. For example, in many cases we’re still using old assets and we’re not able to do some things in the way that we want to.”
That's that mindset I like. For Yukes to said they will make their one non-WWE game because they aren't satisfied with WWE 2k.
That's the problem with exclusivity. Yukes knows without competition, 2k has gotten very complacent. A sports game without competition has no outside pressure to make a better game. Realisitically, Yukes has to know that an unlicensed sports game won't sell well. But I feel that they are doing it to push 2k.
I know unlicensed sports games don't sell well, but I would like to bigger companies like this to be willing to eat the cost. Unlike Indies studios, bigger companies have the money and resources to put out a good product within 2-3 years.
