It looks like it's getting major improvements to the Be a GM (Franchise Mode) to add depth to a fairly barebones mode; still not nearly where it needs to be, but definitely a step in the right direction. The netfront battles will be a refreshing addition for players who muck it up infront of the net and defenders who try to box out the forwards. The goalie changes and EASHL improvements have me most excited personally; short side goals have been a plague on the EA NHL franchise and it looks like this'll be greatly helped by the post lean, the removal of the post bubble and the RVH. With improvements to the shuffle and T-push animations, goalies should have a less sleep learning curve, and it should encourage goalies to expand from the middle sit style that looks ugly, plays ugly and is generally awful for the experience of the rest of the players.

Im very concerned about this title. Sure, the franchise/owner improvements are a nice step forward, but nothing about the gameplay seems resolved, stat tracking/goal totals within franchise, all the details on this have been very underwhelming so far. I guess if you're and ECHL fan, you're maybe happy, or an EASHL fan, or if you're looking forward to the draft champions mode.. None of those things do anything for me though, so I'm still deciding to ride it out with NHL 16 since its now in EA's vault for free and I've trading in my physical copy, or make the purchase on 17. I'll play the trial in EA Access and go from there I guess. Not very hyped at all though for it at this point.

All the additions make this year's edition look like the ultimate hockey game!

Every year is the same:

New this, all new that. New real life physics. Some new feature that used to be in the game.

Every year the result is the same:

Same game, same bugs, same exploits. Minor tweaks, new bugs.

Do not fall for the hype. If EA's games matched the hype then we would all be happy gamers.

I'm all about customization. I want to recreate my team and teammates so I'm pretty pumped about these features. If they announce adding the NWHL, I'll make it a 10.

Im not buying the hype.

They have not to date made the players or teams or lines play differently all teams play the same offense and defense, all lines follow same game plan and its just about as easy to score with Ovy as it is with Dan Girardi if you can work the sticks...

If only Konami would release a PES version of NHL

Not on PC.

The relocation and customization upgrades along with the new animations should make this game even more enjoyable than NHL 16.
