Don't Fredette About It
Posted on March 26, 2011 at 01:20 PM.
On Thursday night, Jimmer Fredette had one of the worst shooting nights of his life. People say saying, "Oh, he's a ball hog, he takes to many shots/bad shots, he can't play D', (Which I actually find quite hillarious, as if anyone else does), and any other excuse to avoid saying what they really want to say. No matter how great Jimmer plays, people are going to doubt him for one reason, and for one reason only. He's white. "Can he suceed in the NBA" my @$$. If Jimmer Fredette was black, would anyone even question his greatness? Even I had my doubts about Jimmer, but let me put it this way. Kemba Walker, a 6'0 junior for Uconn, who averages 23.5 ppg to Jimmer's 28.5 ppg is being considered a better draft pick than Jimmmer Fredette. Are you kidding me?! There is literally not one thing that Kemba does better than Jimmer. People say that Jimmer takes to many bad shots. He shoots 45% from the field to Kemba's 43%! Jimmer shoots 39% on threes compared to Kemba's 34%! They average the same amount of Assists per game. Are you really going to say that Kemba's DEFENSE is just SOOO much better that it makes him a better player than Jimmer Fredette? Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Kemba Walker, he really is a great player, but Jimmer is clearly supperior. But because he is white, no one will admit it. Now im not saying that Jimmer is going to go to the NBA and be like MJ, but lets face the facts. When Jimmer goes and gets drafted by whoever and is hitting 35-footers in the NBA, we'll see what all the people who felt he was "to white" have to say then.

If you can't guard, you can't play in the NBA.

Doesn't have anything to do with race.

Oh, yeah I forgot how important defense was in the NBA....

"When Jimmer goes and gets drafted by whoever and is hitting 35-footers in the NBA."

The second he tried to shoot a 35-foot jumpshot, even if it goes in, he will be benched. Pulling up to take 35-foot jumpshots is not acceptable in the NBA, unless it is a shot clock or buzzer beater. Even if he somehow makes it 9 out of 10 times, he will still benched until he takes more reasonable shots.

Seriously? Fredette averages 28 PPG because he plays with a mediocre supporting cast, and takes more shots than Kimba has to for UCONN. Don't bring race into it. Do you honestly believe NBA GM's give a damn about what color someone is?

It's not a matter of how many shots, its a matter of if you make them! Jimmer- 45% from the field, 39% on threes; Kemba-43% from the field, 34% on threes. So it's not as if Jimmer just shoots blind-folded 3's every time down the court. And if you think his shots are poor looks, then he's pretty damn good at making them. And if you really think race has nothing to do with evaluating an NBA player, stop living under a rock.

If you don't want him to use his biggest strength, which is his range, then why would you draft him in the first place?! The team he get's drafted by will draft him because they like his style of play. If you draft him and say " you can only shoot from this far out" and " if you take more than X amount of shots per game, your going to be benched", then you could go take a look at ANY OTHER GUARD in the draft or in free agency.

People got to face facts, race does have something to do with it. Maybe not a huge portion but it does. And this guy brings up good points, about FG%. And I hate when people start talking about how amazing the Big East is, the only reason ESPN always says it is because their headquarters are in Connecticut. How many Big East schools made it to the sweet 16? 1. WAC? 1. ACC? 3.
But to say that if you can't guard you can't play in the NBA?!?! Please, guys don't start going all out on D until there is 17-20 games left in the regular season. And this guy plays almost exactly like Steph Curry did at Davidson. Does anyone really think that Curry was THAT good on defense?

Fredette is good in all but c'mon he plays in the Mountain West what other team besides San Diego State is a challenge? Place BYU in the
Big East and none of this would ever happen..

Your going to say he only suceeds because he is in the MW? What about his thrasings of Arizona? Going for 34 against Gonzaga? How many MW teams were in the Sweet 16?-2; Big East Teams?-2; Pac-10?-1. Plus, does it really matter who he is playing considering some of the shots he makes?

@greenbull50 place him on lets say USF do u think they would be 27-2?
No they would probably have 12 wins max....

What? Jimmer would still be a dominant player, but obviously USF w/Jimmer wouldn't be as dominant as BYU w/Jimmer. BYU IS a good TEAM. There not only Jimmer. But what does that have to do with how sucessfull Jimmer will be in the NBA?

This a bunch of greenbull.I happen to see kemba play yesterday at the honda center. The kid is amazing , or should i say more amazing then Jimmer. Thats why Uconn is still in it. Bringing race into this discussion is useless. I know you want to use race as the reason Jimmer is not getting his fair shake. You should of never hit submit on this one. Strength of schedule goes to Kemba. Having to play against other elite gaurds will make Kemba a higher draftpick and possibly a better NBA player then Jimmer. Its not just my opinion , its the whole racist world of college baskerball's opinion...right greenblue , they all hate white people.

Jimmer is going to have to play PG in the NBA since he's too small to be a SG.

Whether Jimmer can defend guys like Williams, Rondo, Rose, et al. will make or break his career, not the color of his skin.

really dude race has nothing to do with it if they think he can play he will get drafted sombody is going to to take a chance on him. Ask Adam Morrision if race is a factor dude could ball at a smaller program gets drafted and sucks it up, there are others drafted from not great programs that dominate the ball put up numbers and suck in the NBA. He will get a chance though no doubt. walker is a better overall player passing and rebounding jimmer can shoot thats about it.

not just white players

I don't like Jimmer for the fact he plays like Iverson... I hated Iverson taking a million bad shots and getting praised for everything. I'm white... it would be quite hypocritical if I liked Jimmer because he was white and doing his thing when I hate the style of game he plays.
