2K Sports Title game ?

So I was reading at ESPN.com that Michigan upset UCLA to advance to the title game of the 2k Sports Basketball Tournament.

Now forgive for saying so, but WTF ? A Video game company sponsors a College basketball tournament even though they pulled the plug on the best College hoops franchise in a decade?
Thats just stupid. No actually, that's just stupid AND assinine. The more I observe things like this the more I believe that it's Take Two's marketing strategy (or lack thereof) that is to blame for this mess in sports gaming these days. Say what you will about EA's final product(s). The bottom line is they market slick and they play hardball, creating hype (often leading to unrealistic expectations) which moves product.

Im not a fan of exclusive licenses and Both Baseball and Football have suffered for it.
But at least EA has realized value in aquiring the NFL License. Take Two overbid in a knee jerk reaction that hurt their bottom line. This forced them to cancel one of the best games out there... Yet they still sponsor a tournament that creates hype and awareness for a game that no longer exists...

Just plain Stupid.
EA may be the evil empire. However, until Take Two learns how to organize and execute with its marketing army, The evil empire will run amuck with it's well oiled marketing machine.
