Cabrera Era Ends in Detroit
Posted on September 13, 2019 at 06:51 AM.
In the middle of a solid bounce back season, Miguel Cabrera was dealt to the Boston Red Sox today in exchange for two minor league prospects. Cabrera, 35, is hitting .259 with 11 home runs and (for some reason) is in the final year of his contract.
The move comes after 10 years with the Tigers where he made the World Series and won the Triple Crown award. He was the face of the franchise for years and one of the best deals made by former GM Dave Dombrowski when he poached Cabrera from the Marlins in 2008.

The Tigers acquired RHP Durbin Feltman 21-65-B has a 99 mph fastball that routinely reaches triple digits. The Tigers figures he'll be at the back end of the bullpen in the future.
LHSP ____ was also acquired. At AA he has a record of ____.

The Red Sox needed a RH bat who could play first base. Cabrera will likely DH as the Red Sox are in the middle of a playoff push and are hoping to boost their lineup as well as their clubhouse.

"We wanted to bring in a big bat but also a leader. Cabrera is both", said Dombrowski, now the Red Sox GM.
