Devils continue rebuild path with release of players

The New Jersey Devils today have allowed 16 players who were part of the organization last year to test the waters of free agency, allowing the rebuild to continue. Among those players who did not have their contracts renewed include wingers Marty Havlat and Michael Ryder, defensemen Peter Harrold and Mark Fraser, and veteran centerman Scott Gomez.

Contracts were offered to 7 Devils players, including Eric Gelinas, Seth Helgeson, Adam Larsson and Ryan Kijawinski, while two players had qualifying offers extended to them. Here is the full list of the Devils re-signings.
