Yahoo! Games Previews (360, DS)

Yahoo! Games has posted the following:
  • Tony Hawk's Project 8 (360)
"Away from the technical side, the biggest innovation in Project 8 is the nail-the-trick feature. It's along the same lines of basketball games using the right stick for ballhandling, or Fight Night using the sticks for punching instead of face buttons. When taking to the air, players use the analog sticks to actually control their skater's feet in a "focus"-style slow motion mode. Associate producer Randy Guillote walks us through the process: "I push the left stick up, which puts my leg out and does the kickflip. I have to hold it out of the way, so I don't hit the board. Then, when I let go, it'll catch the board and go back and land -- but the grip tape has to be up or else I bail."
  • Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam (DS)
"Tony Hawk's Downhill Jam definitely represents a new direction for the series. As it's a little more straightforward than the trick-centric titles in the past, it's ideal for younger and less experienced gamers, and Activision goes that route in terms of visuals as well. We all remember being kids, taking our skateboards and riding down the biggest hill in the neighborhood. There is a chance this shift may alienate some die-hard Pro Skater veterans, but Activision and Tony Hawk deserve the benefit of the doubt. After all, they've been winning this race for a long time now."

Premier Manager 2006-2007 Dated (PS2, PC)

Eurogamer has the scoop.
"ZOO Digital says Premier Manager 2006-2007 will be out in time for the start of the new Premiership season.

And just in the nick of time, too - it's out on August 18th on PS2 and PC, with the first games kicking off the very next afternoon."

Cartoon Network Racing Screenshots (PS2)

Boomtown has posted some screenshots of Cartoon Network Racing.
"Wacky cel-shaded action on PlayStation 2."
