Video Games, Foreign Players Hit Soccer in Britain

Yahoo! News has the article.
"Foreign players, video games and a lack of coaching are behind the current shortage of young talent in British soccer, national managers agreed on Tuesday.

England's Steve McClaren, Northern Ireland's Lawrie Sanchez, John Toshack of Wales and Scotland's Walter Smith called for more facilities and better coaching for Britain's youngsters if they are to make a career at the top.

Sanchez said: "When Northern Ireland qualified for the World Cup in 1986, they could name 15 or 20 players in the top level of English football (soccer). At this moment, I've got four players and they don't play all the time in their first teams."

TrackMania United Interview (PC)

Computer Games Online has posted an interview with Olivier Torreilles, Nadeo developer, about the new racing game TrackMania United.
CGO: "What improvements and changes have you made to this title based on the previous games in the series?"
Olivier: "The most visible improvements are the new interface and the extension of the stadium environment from TrackMania Nations. But the most ambitious innovations lie in the new possibilities for competition on one hand, and community creation and sharing on the other hand. Among other things, you can compete by region, browse other players creations, get your friends best replay... All of this directly from within the game. And as for content, it combines all the previous environments from the TrackMania series, totaling more than 1000 building blocs in this single game."

Question of the Day

Have you finished your Christmas shopping yet?

Um...No. I always seem to wait until the last possible second. I'm an idiot.

QOTD - yes, I'm done. We do all of our shopping online.

QOTD - The only people "I" get presents for are my parents, and I don't spend a dime. My mom buys some presents and gives me some to give to my dad, and vice versa.

I, too, like you wait unitl the last possible second. For some reason I can't hold on to gifts for a prolonged period of time. If I buy someone something, I gots to give it to 'em that day.

I'm an idiot too. I haven't even started after telling my wife I would handle the bulk of the shopping. BTW--good to be able to post in this section. For some reason my job would block out the news forum, but not the game forum. Weird.

QOTD: I'm halfway done with my shopping. I've got pretty much all my wife's stuff, but I still have to pick up stuff for my folks and my brother. I know what I'm getting them all though, so it should be too tough.

QOTD - Nope. Have ideas but have not started.
# 10 pennstlbu @ 12/13/06 06:03 PM
