GameSpy has posted previews of the following games:
  • All-Pro Football 2K8 (PS3)
" All-Pro Football 2K8 is an experiment. The question is: Can a non-licensed football game succeed in a market already dominated by a staple of the industry? The question isn't whether or not the game can knock Madden off its pedestal. It cannot do that. But can it make a profit? Can it just succeed? We'll find out soon as the game is finished and ready for its July 16th release. After spending about an hour with it, one thing is clear -- this is one unique football game."
  • All-Pro Football 2K8 (360)
"Players are also not given specific ratings as in a traditional sports game. Instead, they are distinguished by special skills; Dan Marino has Pocket Presence, Quick Release, 4th Quarter Comebacks, Laser Arm and Rocket Arm. These traits are what separate the players from one another, and you can clearly see the difference in Dan Marino and the aforementioned Andre Ware. There are over 80 of these traits in all and they run the gamut from generic strength upgrades to powerful skills such as Acrobatic Catcher or Signal Stealer."
  • NBA Live 08 (PS3)
"NBA Live has struggled of late to keep up with the NBA 2K series from 2K Sports. "The gameplay just wasn't where we wanted it to be so we completely redirected our focus," said Producer Julien Carron. Based on playing the game for about 30 minutes, he's not kidding. Not only has the company added several inspired new features, but the gameplay itself, even in this unfinished state, is dramatically better than last year's game."
  • NBA Live 08 (360)
"So many areas of the gameplay have been touched up, like rebounding. No longer will the ball magically move to a player's outstretched hands. Instead, the player will go after it, snatching the ball out of the air. In addition, players actually box out, using their legs and arms to keep offensive rebounders at bay, and for the first time ever in an NBA Live game, multiple players will attempt to bring down a rebound, which gives a whole new meaning to the "crash boards" strategy."
