SCEA Responds Quickly to MLB 08: The Show Roster Update Problem

This morning, the roster update that many owners of the PS3 version of The Show were waiting for was released, but not without some problems.

Because of MLBPA restrictions that prevent Sony from including players without any MLB service time, this week's roster update was highly anticipated and thought of as the real "Opening Day" roster set, since most players people were interested in have, by now, played in an actual MLB game. Most notable was Chicago Cubs' outfielder Kosuke Fukudome.

Now for the bad news. Apparently, after installing this roster update, PS3 owners quickly noticed that every single player in the league had their equipment defaulted to nothing. This means no wrist bands, no sleeves, no batting gloves. It's as though every player in the league has been freshly created without any accessories what so ever.

OperationSports.com's T.J. Cutini spoke with MLB 08: The Show senior producer Kolbe Launchbaugh about the problem earlier today. Launchbaugh's responsibilities do not extend to roster updates but he promised to look into the matter and report back to OS as soon as he had some answers.

As promised, Launchbaugh got back to us with the following:

	"Small update. We found the issue that caused the problem and Brian is on the job looking for a fix. I still don't know when/if we can get a new roster up this week but we're going to attempt it. All roster deployments have to go through the QA process and seeing as we already do them weekly inserting another one into the mix may not be a possibility. I'll let you know definitively when I have an answer one way or another. -Kolbe"

We will keep you posted on any new developments regarding the roster update.

	That is a real jersey, it is a home alternate - not a road alternate - some teams have both. The jersey engine isn't set up the way it should be. Look at the Twins alternates. SCEA has them in red hats. I know these uniform combos exist but SCEA needs to pay more attention to them and how they are implemented. like i said before, this is not something SCEA is doing wrong, or not paying attention too..
im 99% sure they MUST follow what the MLB style guide displays...and they cant do nothing about it...they gotta make the uniforms exactly like its in the guide.
and i know that guide has quite a few mistakes..ive seen the one for the 2006 season..it had all the mistakes mlb 06 the show had...
im sure its not a coencidency.
also, its not a coencidency that mlb 2k has the same exact uniforms mistakes.

the problem is with MLB...they should update the guide..so we would have perfect unis in our games.

i am definitely waiting until the patch, the rosters, everyting is just right until i start my franchise....or continuous seasons. haven't decided yet...but regardless, i am waiting until this coming monday when the patch and everything is resolved.

Yeah, they never said a patch was coming Monday. That's only a couple of us speculating. We know an update is coming to fix the rosters, anything else is a bonus.

Probably best to bury that talk before it starts...

I don't think it has been said, but in the new update Brian Barton on the cardinals is white with short hair in the game, but is black with dreads in real life.
