Franchise looks good. Amateur draft, but no rule 5 or 40 man rosters it appears. Bummer, but I can deal. I've not finished a season in any baseball game in a few years anyway.

Everything else looks really good.

Franchise looks to be pretty deep, statistically, which is very good. Love the sabermetrics and mlb.com interface.

The end of year stats are pretty wonky and kinda ll over the place, but that's hopefully somewhat addressed in tuning. If not, it's nothing some good editing and testing can't fix

I'm thinking that the PC version will be the way to go. That may also help with my issues with the facial inaccuracies.

Anyway, great work Steve...you're certainly keeping busy...lol

look at the majors digits 19 P and 16 B
Thats 35 players on the mlb roster
and the other leagues have the looks of 25
So it looks like 40 man rosters are in

Menu screens kind of annoy me, especially the background.

A 2K game hasn't done that for me since 2K3.

Some concern over the sim engine...

Mets, Phillies, Yankees, Dodgers all finish below .500 for the season. Royals have more wins than all of those teams. and finish above .500.

Dodgers only win 65 games.

Rockies finish with the best record in National League.

Arod hits something like 25 home runs while playing in 161 games. We know from the released ratings that 2K didn't penalize his ratings for his steroids admission.

During the off season, user controlled Florida has no trouble landing top free agent Matt Holiday.

Yes, it's just one sim but there are some definite red flags here.

Nice to see that the Comeback Player of the Year award made it into this game...NBA 2K9 did this so well that the winners of that award became big contributors to your team and tried to keep their "improved season" stats up for the rest of their career. We'll see if that happens in MLB 2K9.

This is something to be worried about, but VC's free agent signing in NBA and NHL this year is pretty hard, especially for marquee players. At least from what I've experienced, unless you offer them much more than what they wanted, it'll be hard to land them. I wonder if the "play for winner" attribute (first seen in NBA 2K9) can influence which team a player will gravitate toward, much like OOTP does.

Way too many players with 200 hits.

Anyone notice that Chris Duncan (terrible OFer) won the gold glove? lol first off, that guy is the worst defensive player on the Cardinals. Second, he won't come close to landing the everyday starting job ever again...

All I can say is Kudos to my WhiteSox for winning the world series!!!

The depth of the franchise looks insane!! Just hope there's not any crazy franchise killing bugs. No it wont be 100% perfect and I dont expect that but I hope any bugs (if any) are minor ones at least

Isn't that a bit presumptuous? I could have sworn they already confirmed NO 40 man rosters.

Remember, this screen is taken in the off-season after many transactions were made. So it could just as easily be that he didn't shift guy to their respective levels yet. They seem to be on the "Finalize Rosters" step too

I'm not saying your 100% wrong, just taking a bit of a leap.

yea I know I was asking if anyone knew
So it looks like 40 man rosters are in? is what i was meaning.
I think the chise looks really good, I didnt like the amount of career years sorta
A big plus were the pitcher strikeouts totals nice to see a pitcher over 145 for the league lead lol.
As previously posted the gold gloves were kinda weird. The AL comeback player of the year I forget his name, I never heard of him. Dont you have to be good, then be bad, and then Have a comeback year?
He is a current minor and he won comeback player.
I think this game will be really deep this year, with different angles you could mix it up camera wise just about all the time to get a new feel.
One thing I was skeptical is VC random records , I wonder how they actually do their win/loss sim engine. Top teams below five hundred and 60-73 game winning teams in the mid 80's. Also little discrepency in divisions like NBA 2K9
Franchise looks promising though, I also had a hard time landing free agents in NBA & NHL this year, you have to put up extra gwap to reel em in.

I gotcha. Yup, the stats and records are ALL screwy. Not the numbers themselves in all cases, just who they're attributed to.

I mean, a guy with a 6.00+ ERA and 27 Saves is the reliever of the year?...lol...god help the league.

I don't put too much stock into that stuff though. There has yet to be a console baseball game that tracked all the awards realistically and most need some considerable ratings editing to end up with realistic simulation results (including The Show).

So I'm not worried on that front and overall franchise looks to be pretty solid in terms of stat tracking and interface. So we'll see

LoL, Nathan won reliever of the year with a 4.02 ERA and 27 saves, and Marmol won it with a 6.33 ERA (!) and 27 saves.

# 14 tyler289 @ 02/13/09 02:37 PM
Yikes. A 6 ERA and 27/33 saves wins reliever of the year. What, did the MLB let Cubs fans votes?

As long as stats are realistic, I can live without the reliever of the year being right. The MVP and stuff looks ok.

I dont get it, do people who work on videogames not use photoshop? I mean how hard is it to put a yankee hat on texiera? and on sebbathia, etc. Its amateurish if you ask me. people are already making "deals" if stat tracking is ok i will settle for the awards system to be broken. LOL. I give this game until March 10th before everyone is once again "done with it". I said this after last year, and im holding true to it, just as I am with Madden. I have seen nothing showing me they went that "extra mile" and things like the Hats are that extra mile.

Each player seems to have his own card like nba 2k9, loving that...

Awards, in most games, are messed up. I can live without them being 100% legit, because it's not a big deal.

how does VC **** this up with 2 games. The Stats in NBA2K9 franchise were terrible and its the same with MLB 2k9.

# 19 ronnyballgame @ 02/13/09 05:16 PM
The stats do seem a bit screwy, but heck, what sport is perfect I assume. I hope the gameplay is playable, and I work from there. Everything looks impressive and better than I was hoping. Waiting for March 3rd, fo'sure.
