NBA 2K10 News Post

It has been an exciting 10 years for the NBA 2K series and basketball gamers alike. After the first installment in 1999, NBA 2K soon became a staple in the hoops genre. The series has provided an enjoyable playing experience for casual gamers while presenting a good enough challenge for those with insane stick skills. The franchise has also been known for dishing out a realistic NBA experience that allows basketball junkies like myself to live out their hoop dreams through our gaming consoles.

With perennial All-Star Kobe Bryant starring as the game's front man, NBA 2K10 aims to accomplish the same goal as its cover athlete: defend its championship crown. But like all things from which greatness is expected, the level of expectations are high. A decade since its introduction, can NBA 2K10 still rise up to the challenge?

man i dont know. he says alot of positive but those negatives can be fixed with sliders. 8.5 is good but its suspect to me

from reading i thought it would have gotten a 9 or higher IMO

I thInk this was a little overtly positive, especially after the Madden review but I might just buy both titles.

Yeah, for me it would need the paint play cleaned up quite a bit from last year as well as toning down the rubberband A.I. Also, I hope that by making layups less "money" that we won't see even more blown lay-ups or dunks on easy fastbreaks.

So Live's an 8 then? That's my guess.

lol this has never happen to me in 2k9. must have been your sliders dog but i mainly talking about fast break dunks, but even open layup missing was very random

Good review ... Play calling is lost and has yet to be found in that game... I played my boy yesterday, he played a whole game without a playcall or a jumpshot.. lol, Overall presentation is the strong point this year as well of player models... But still the same gameplay. (IMO)

No mention of framerate issues? Or custom in-game sounds for the 360? Or anything on the Association mode?

Do we need to have the review out at midnight of release date if it means glossing over or skipping some substantial areas of the game?

Great review. Had game since Sat and dead on with presentation and gameplay. would like to see frame rate issue addressed immed as this will frustrate fans who use Dallas. There was a update for game when I booted up.Any clue what the update included. I give it a a 9.0

Those reviews were done by three different people, so obviously, the rating comparison doesn't hold up.

I did the NHL 10 review and gave it a 8.5, but if you asked me rate Madden 10, I would've given it a 7, and if I'd done NCAA Football, it probably would've gotten a 6 from me.

Haven't played the full version of either basketball game yet, so I've got no comment on those.

All 2k9 needed was a couple of tweaks and they never happened. I wouldn't hold my breath. After two straight years of nagging issues I think I'll choose to not be irritated for a third season in a row. They glossed over this review but considering the way they've been jocking this game last couple of months I can't say I'm surprised.

That scores seems right. A lot of those things he mentioned can be fixed with sliders but, that's not how a review is done. It's about how it plays out of the box. Some modes weren't even talked about but, it's cool. This year is a great year to be a fan of bball and video games.

Can't wait to read the review on Live 10. I have that as well and I know how I feel. It should be a interesting read.
